"Insightful, Rigorous, Supportive"

Thatโ€™s how Hieu describes his internship experience in accounting.

His journey to getting an internship was not exactly straightforward. Before finding his current role through a personal connection, Hieu had already tried applying through university recruitment channels, online platforms, and company websites.

As a first-year student, he faced several rejections. Even after being invited to an interview at a small company near his home, he eventually received a rejection email.

Eventually, a personal connection helped him land his current internship at a small company, where he was able to learn directly from a senior accountant.

Without a formal training curriculum, Hieu gained hands-on experience from his very first days, working with cash books, vouchers, invoice reconciliation and accounting software such as Misa Amis. He also got exposure to bank deposits, purchasing, sales and cash transactions.

โ€œI gained exposure to a little bit of everything.โ€

But behind all these tasks, Hieu discovered one lesson that matters in accounting: meticulousness and organization.

Even a small task requires focus and accuracy, whether he is checking invoices, correcting data entry errors or conducting inventory checks in the warehouse.

Every accounting students know this: The most satisfying moment is seeing the data he entered perfectly match the invoices and supporting documents.

His internship has given him a clearer perspective on his career path and boosted his confidence as he moves forward.

What does it feel like to step into the workplace when youโ€™re still figuring out what comes next?

For Dao Nhat Linh, her internship journey was not just about gaining work experience. It was also about understanding what she enjoys, building confidence, and getting a clearer idea about her career direction.

From supporting students, helping with events to testing new tools, Linh got to experience what happens behind the scenes of a student-focused team.

One lesson that stood out to her?

Professional communication is very different when youโ€™re the one responsible for getting the right information, asking the right questions, and adapting to each person you speak with.

And sometimes, the most memorable part of an internship isnโ€™t one big project. Itโ€™s the everyday moments of being trusted, supported, and given the space to learn.

From finding her internship through the BUV Career Centre portal to seeing her own ideas being used by a real brand, Ngocโ€™s internship at TUBUDD has been all about โ€œCuriosity, Try, Againโ€.

As a Content Marketing Intern, she has worked on content planning, research, competitor analysis, script writing and more.

What surprised her most? Realising that what she learned at BUV was suddenly becoming practical.

Her advice for future interns:

โ€ข Keep track of every company and position you apply for

โ€ข Double-check your contact information

โ€ข Ask questions, even the โ€œsillyโ€ ones

โ€ข Give yourself time to observe and learn

โ€ข Donโ€™t be afraid to submit something imperfect and learn from feedback

And perhaps her most memorable advice:

โ€œBring a pillow and a blanket on your first day.โ€

This week, our Career Services & Industry Relations team visited two of our industry partners, BlueOC Tech on Tuesday, 11 August, and LTS Group on Wednesday, 12 August.

We had the chance meet with both the employers/supervisor and the BUV interns currently working at these companies. ๐Ÿ™Œ

These visits are a great opportunity for us to connect with our partners, check in with our students, and hear more about their internship experience and contributions within the workplace.

A huge thank you to BlueOC Tech and LTS Group for welcoming our team and, most importantly, for providing our BUV interns with valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute as part of your teams. ๐Ÿš€
