An Actor and His Girlfriend’s Father
An actor asked his girlfriend’s father for permission to marry her. “Forgot it!” the father said. “I would never let my daughter marry an actor!” “Please come and see my performance before you make that decision, sir,” the actor asked. “Sure,” the father said. So the father and his daughter sow the actor’s performance in a play and after it was over, they went backstage to his dressing room. “OK,” the father said, “you can marry my daughter …..”

* sự tin tưởng chắc chắn vào khả năng hoặc quyền lực của chính mình/ lòng tin.
- She shows remarkable assurance on stage for one so young. – Trên sân khâu, cô ấy biểu lộ sẹ tự tin phi thường đối với một người trẻ như cô ấy.
* Hay assurance còn có nghĩa là lời nói thể hiện sự chắc chắn về cái gì/ sự đảm bảo.
- He gave me an assurance that it would be ready by Friday. – Anh ta đảm bảo với tôi rằng điều đó sẽ xong vào thứ 6.
- Despite repeated assurance he failed to repay the money he had borrowed. - Mặc dù đã cam doan nhiều lân anh ta vẫn không trả được khoản tiền mà anh ấy đã vay.

2. Can.cel.la.tion /¸kænsə´leiʃən/ sự hủy bỏ hoặc bị hủy bỏ
- her cancellation of her trip to Paris: Việc bà ấy hủy bỏ chuyến đi Paris.
- the cancellation of the match due to fog: sự hủy bỏ trận đấu do sương mù.

Chuyện vui hôm nay có gì???
Two choices
A woman woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t find her husband. She went downstairs and looked around, and found her husband, sitting in the corner facing the wall and crying. “What’s the matter with you?” she asked him. “Remember when your father caught us together when we were teenagers?” he replied. “He was really angry and told me that I had two choices: I could either marry you, or go to prison for 20 years.” “Yeah,” she said, “I remember. So?” “I would have gotten out today!” the man sobbed.

*Ngoài ra, agreement còn có nghĩa là sự hòa hợp về ý kiến hoặc tình cảm; đồng ý.
- The two sides failed to reach agreement. - Hai bên đã không đạt được thỏa thuận.

The first day
A young businessperson was in his new office on his first day of work. He didn’t have anything to do, so he just sat at his desk. But he didn’t want his co-worker to think he wasn’t busy, so he would pretend he was talking to a client on the phone. Then at around noon, a man walked into his office and sat down, so the businessperson started pretending he was talking to a client. Then he put down the telephone and asked the man, “May I help you?” The man replied, “Yes, I’m here to install the phone.”
