CAREER DAY 2026: FROM “INSIGHT” TO “IMPACT”

(Tiếng Việt ở phần bình luận)

In just two days, 23-24 April, Career Day 2026 at VinUni delivered a distinctly “transformational” career experience, where students moved beyond exploration and networking into real interview settings, stepping closer to tangible career opportunities.

Designed around the journey “Explore - Prepare - Engage - Convert", this year’s edition blurred the line between preparation and action: from Company Talks, delivered by Green SM, Google, Vincom and VEC - Vietnam Exposition Center sharing insights on industries and corporate culture, to B2B Meetings & Industry Challenge Sharing sessions strengthening university-industry collaboration, and the Applied AI Talent Program workshop. All activities were aimed at helping students understand how businesses operate in a labor market increasingly shaped by AI.

Specially, many top employers joined Career Day through connections from VinUni alumni and students. This is a powerful testament to the quality and credibility of VinUni talents, our graduates are not only thriving in the industry but are also actively “pay it forward" back to the campus, strengthening the bridge between industry and academia. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to:

- Strategic Partners: BIDV, SAP, ICAEW Chartered Accountants, Quantex.
- Companion Partners: Monee, Shopee, VinDynamics, VinSmart Future, Woori Bank.

| Can AI detect diseases it has never seen? VinUni students and researchers are making it possible

(Tiếng Việt dưới phần bình luận)

In medical diagnostics, "data scarcity" is a significant challenge. While is incredibly good at detecting and diagnosing common illnesses, it often struggles to recognize rare diseases simply because it hasn't "seen" enough examples. At the 2026 IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging ( ) - a premier global stage for biological imaging - students and researchers from proved that smart innovation can overcome this hurdle.

Two new research works have received prestigious awards, recognizing their scientific value and potential to contribute to practical clinical diagnostics:

🥇 1st Place - Teaching AI to Detect the "Invisible"

How do you train AI to identify rare conditions when the number of data samples is incredibly limited? Outperforming 72 international teams, our team took the #1 spot for their work on Chest X-ray classification. They developed a way for AI to accurately identify rare conditions even when medical images are limited - ensuring no patient is left behind just because their condition is uncommon. The project is a collaborative effort between the Computer Vision and Medical AI Lab (CVMAIL), VinUni - Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC), and the Machine and Hybrid Intelligence Lab (MIHL) at Northwestern University

🏆 Best Paper Award - A Breakthrough in Rare White Blood Cell Classification

Standard AI often makes decisions by just looking for visual patterns, without understanding the biology behind them. Our researchers changed this by "teaching" AI the same logical steps and biological markers that human doctors use to identify cells. This combination allowed the project to win the Best Paper Award for its ability to accurately classify rare white blood cells. By following biological rules, the AI makes the early detection of blood disorders more precise and less prone to simple errors.

According to Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, Principal Investigator and PhD Supervisor at the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC): “These achievements reflect the research capabilities and innovative spirit of VinUni students and fellows, while demonstrating their potential to contribute to high-value research directions and global healthcare challenges.”

Congratulations to the research teams!

VinUni leadership revealed 's “bold bet” to put Vietnamese research on the world map within ten years under the big quest “Is Asia the next science superpower?” at THE Asia Universities Summit 2026

(Tiếng việt ở phần bình luận)

At THE Asia Universities Summit 2026, Dr. Lê Mai Lan, president of the University Council at VinUniversity, joined leaders from Times Higher Education, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Springer Nature Group to tackle a defining question: What will truly determine Asia’s scientific future?

To conquer this big question, bold ideas on the below matters were critically discussed:
1. Quantity vs. Quality? What distinguishes agenda-setting science from high-volume research?
2. Which institutional incentives enable originality rather than replication?
3. How should universities and governments protect openness and trust under geopolitical strain?
4. What is a “bold bet” of VinUni to put Vietnamese research on the world map ten years from now?
5. What is one habit or mindset that Asian universities need to “unlearn” in order to stop just following and start leading?

A range of sharp perspectives was brought into the dialogue, converging on a clear message that Asia’s scientific future will depend less on its potential and more on how effectively institutions, researchers, and policymakers translate that potential into sustained action. Within this, Dr. Mai Lan reveals VinUni's 2 key factors and the unique university-industry integration model to work towards our great ambition to bring Vietnam to the global academic map.

👉 Read the full sharing below.

🚀 The conversation continues on today, April 23, when Dr. Lê Mai Lan delivers a keynote on “Scaling Asian innovations into global models.” Stay tuned!

VINUNIVERSITY SPARKS A NEW DIALOGUE ON FUNDRAISING AND ADVANCEMENT FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN VIETNAM
(Tiếng Việt dưới phần bình luận)

What does it take for universities to grow beyond their current limits?

At VinUniversity’s Strategic Fundraising and Advancement Workshop for Higher Education, a key idea emerged: universities need to move beyond viewing fundraising as a standalone activity and instead embrace advancement as a strategic capability - integrating reputation, relationships, and long-term resource development.

Across global perspectives shared at the workshop, advancement was framed not simply as financial mobilization, but as a broader system of value creation, where:

🔹Trust builds institutional reputation.
🔹Relationships strengthen networks across alumni, partners, and community.
🔹And these connections translate into sustainable resources - from scholarships and research opportunities to long-term societal impact.

For Vietnam, this opens a larger question:

👉 What if advancement were treated not as a supporting function, but as a core driver of university transformation?

At VinUniversity, early steps are already underway - from building dedicated advancement capabilities to fostering alumni engagement and expanding strategic partnerships, all grounded in a long-term vision for impact.
