KHI TUỔI THƠ CỦA BỐ MẸ TRỞ THÀNH BÀI HỌC CỦA CON
💭 “Bố mẹ con cũng từng là em bé hả cô?”
Đó là một trong những “phát hiện” khiến các bạn nhỏ Mira vô cùng thích thú khi nhìn thấy những bức ảnh hồi bé của bố mẹ.
Khi những hình ảnh về tuổi thơ của bố mẹ xuất hiện trong lớp học, rất nhiều câu hỏi nối tiếp nhau: “Cô ơi, sao bố mẹ lại chơi trò này?”, “Ngày xưa không có điện thoại thì bố mẹ rủ nhau đi chơi kiểu gì?”, “Quạt này không cần cắm điện hả cô?”... Từ những thắc mắc ấy, các con bắt đầu tìm xem tuổi thơ của bố mẹ có gì giống và khác tuổi thơ của mình.
📽️ Qua hình ảnh tivi đen trắng, quạt nan, đài cát xét, điện thoại..., các con quan sát và so sánh với những đồ vật quen thuộc ngày nay. Các con nhận ra tivi ngày trước chưa có nhiều màu sắc như bây giờ, quạt nan không cần cắm điện mà phải dùng tay để quạt, những chiếc điện thoại cũng rất khác với điện thoại bố mẹ đang dùng.
Không chỉ xem và nghe bố mẹ kể, các con còn được thử những trò chơi của bố mẹ ngày xưa như kéo mo cau, kéo thúng, gẩy chun, ô ăn quan, làm pháo từ bẹ lá chuối hay dùng lá cây để chơi nấu ăn... Từ những trải nghiệm ấy, các con bất ngờ phát hiện: “Ồ, những thứ này cũng có thể tạo nên những trò chơi thật thú vị!”
❤️ Thông qua những khám phá mới mẻ và những trò chơi thú vị ấy, các con không chỉ được hiểu thêm về cuộc sống xưa - nay mà còn rèn luyện nhiều kỹ năng quan trọng: quan sát, đặt câu hỏi, thử nghiệm và tìm cách giải quyết khi chơi; học cách chờ đến lượt, phối hợp, chia sẻ ý tưởng và cùng bạn tạo nên một cuộc chơi. Từ những trải nghiệm trực tiếp ấy, các con dần trở nên chủ động hơn trong việc khám phá, học hỏi và kết nối với thế giới xung quanh.
Và rồi, “ngày xưa của bố mẹ” không còn là điều gì quá xa lạ với một em bé 4 tuổi nữa: “À! Bố mẹ cũng từng là những em bé như mình. Ngày ấy, bố mẹ chơi những trò chơi khác, dùng những đồ vật khác và có một tuổi thơ không giống chúng mình bây giờ nhưng đều thật vui!”.

Khi những ký ức của gia đình trở thành học liệu, các con không chỉ hiểu thêm về quá khứ và hiện tại, mà còn có cơ hội quan sát, đặt câu hỏi, so sánh, suy luận và kết nối – những năng lực quan trọng giúp trẻ từng bước tự mình khám phá thế giới xung quanh.

FROM PARENTS’ MEMORIES TO CHILDREN’S DISCOVERIES
💭 “Teacher, were my parents babies too?”
This was one of the “discoveries” that delighted our Mira student when they saw photos of their parents as little ones.
As childhood memories came into the classroom, so did a stream of curious questions: “Teacher, why did my parents play with this?”, “If there were no phones back then, how did they ask their friends to play?”, “Does this fan work without electricity?”... These questions opened the door for our four-year-old students to explore how their parents’ childhood was both similar to and different from their own.
📽️ Through photos of black-and-white televisions, traditional hand fans, cassette players, old-fashioned telephones and other objects from the past, students observed and compared them with the familiar things they use today. They discovered that televisions once had fewer colours, hand fans did not need electricity but had to be moved by hand, and telephones looked very different from the ones their parents use today.
Not only did the students look at the photos and listen to their parents’ stories, they also had the opportunity to try some of the games their parents used to play, such as mo cau sledding, basket pulling, rubber-band games, ô ăn quan, making simple toys from banana leaf sheaths, and pretending to cook with leaves. Through these experiences, the children made a delightful discovery: “Oh! We can play with these too!”
❤️ Through these new discoveries and engaging games, the children not only learn more about life in the past and present, but also develop important skills: observing, asking questions, experimenting and finding ways to solve problems during play; learning to take turns, cooperate, share ideas and create games together with their friends. Through these hands-on experiences, the children gradually become more confident and proactive in exploring, learning about and connecting with the world around them.
At the end of the day, “mom and dad’s childhood” became something much more familiar to our four-year-olds: “Wow! My parents were little kids just like me too. Back then, they played different games, used different things, and had a childhood that was different from ours today, but it was just as joyful!”.
💚 A heartfelt thank you to our parents for bringing childhood photos, videos and stories into the classroom. When family memories become part of the children’s learning experiences, they do more than simply learn about the past and present. They have meaningful opportunities to observe, ask questions, compare, make connections and develop their own ideas - important skills that empower children to explore and make sense of the world around them.
