COVID vaccines for children to arrive on May 10
HÀ NỘI — The first batch( đợt 1) of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to inoculate( tiêm chủng) children aged 5-11 is expected to arrive ( được dự đoán sẽ tới) in Việt Nam on May 10, according to ( theo như) Deputy Minister of Health ( thứ trưởng bộ y tế) Đỗ Xuân Tuyên.

The vaccines are part of a donation from Australia ( là một phần tài trợ từ Úc), he said on Monday at a press briefing ( họp báo) for the Government's regular meeting. ( cuộc họp thường kỳ của chính phủ).

Apart from ( ngoài) Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines (Comirnaty) approved for use ( được phê chuẩn sử dụng) in children aged 5-11 years old, Vietnamese health authorities said they had expanded ( triển khai) the emergency use authorisation ( quyền sử dụng khẩn cấp) for Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (Spikevax) to include children from 6 to 11 years old.

Tuyên said the ministry( bộ) had initially( ban đầu) proposed ( đề nghị) to buy 21.9 million doses ( liều) of vaccine. However, during the negotiation ( đàm phán) to sign the contract with Pfizer, several international organisations and countries, including the embassies of Australia and the Netherlands in Việt Nam, announced donations( công bố tài trợ) of vaccines for the country to immunise ( tiêm miễn dịch) children.

Experts ( các chuyên gia) have confirmed that ( khẳng định) COVID-19 vaccines cause no negative impact ( không gây ảnh hưởng phụ) on child genetics ( gien) or future fertility ( khả năn sinh sản) so children should be vaccinated to reduce the risk ( giảm nguy cơ) of severe disease ( bệnh nặng) and hospitalisation ( nằm viện)...
He explained that the essence ( bản chất) of this vaccine is that messenger RNA components ( thành phần của vắc xin truyền tin RNA) , when entering the cell ( tế bào), create proteins and coordinate with immune cells ( kết hợp với tế bào miễn dịch) to produce antibodies ( sản sinh ra kháng thể). The messenger RNAs do not enter ( không đi vào) the human genetic cell reservoir ( nguồn tế bào gen).

He added ( nói thêm) that the immediate side effects ( ảnh hưởng phụ tức thì) in children after getting COVID-19 vaccines would be the same as in adults (có thể giống ở người lớn), so there was nothing to worry about.
