Recently, the Toy Story films have emerged as my youngest son’s favorites. For those who may not be familiar, Toy Story is a classic animated series that imagines the secret lives of toys-full of feelings, loyalty, and adventures of their own.
At its heart, the story shows how friendship and companionship give children the courage to grow, especially through Woody - the fabric cowboy who always stands by his owner, Andy.
As time passes and Andy grows older, he lovingly passes his toys on to a young girl named Bonnie. And in this season of a new school year, I’m reminded of Bonnie’s first day in Toy Story 4-a moment filled with both nerves and excitement. She wanted to bring a toy with her but was told she couldn’t. Woody, the trusty cowboy-deeply concerned-quietly sneaks into her backpack to stay by her side during the big day. After class, Woody returns excitedly, announcing that Bonnie had a good day and even made a friend .
Just like Woody eagerly supporting Bonnie from the backpack, we know that you all-our school partners, dedicated GrapeSEED teachers, and loving parents-are there to support children as they embark upon another new school year ahead.
It is your kind presence and guidance that help children brave the uncertainties that come with these early September days. Your consistent acts of empathy and encouragement see them through, all the way to the end-with new goals reached and new dreams dreamt.
💝We are grateful that we can walk alongside you on the journey as we work together to build up the next generation in their GrapeSEED learning, growth, and joyful discovery, with endless possibilities for their futures. As Buzz Lightyear (another character in Toy Story) would say: “To infinity and beyond!”
