From the Hanoi pitch to the USA! We are incredibly proud to announce that graduating seniors 𝗝𝗮𝘆 and 𝗛𝗶𝗲𝘂 have officially signed commitments to play university soccer in the United States! 🇺🇸⚽️

They are the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 St. Paul students to be recruited by US universities on an athletic track. 🦅
✔𝗝𝗮𝘆 is headed to 𝗠𝗰𝗞𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (Illinois)
✔𝗛𝗶𝗲𝘂 is taking his talents to 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (New York)

Behind the headlines are years of early morning weight room sessions, grueling summer heat, and pure dedication. Here is how they turned their dreams into reality:
️⚽𝙅𝙖𝙮: 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 & 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙛
An Eagle since 5th grade, Jay’s path changed in 10th grade when Athletic Director Coach Pop shared a vision. Through Coach Pop’s 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, Jay attended US college ID camps over the summers of 2024 and 2025, getting recruited straight from the pitch!

️⚽𝙃𝙞𝙚𝙪: 𝙊𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 & 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨
Joining St. Paul in his sophomore year from a bilingual school, Hieu faced a massive transition. He overcame incredible obstacles, moving from a bench player facing doubt to a standout NCAA Division III commit.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙩. 𝙋𝙖𝙪𝙡 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙒𝙚𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨
✔ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘.𝗔.𝗧. (𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺: Far beyond standard PE, this elite training gave Jay college-level stamina and helped Hieu build explosive strength.

Huge congratulations to Emma for her acceptance into University College London (UCL). To make the achievement even more impressive, UCL was so moved by her academic record at St. Paul that they waived her entrance exams!

Since joining us from Korea in 8th grade, Emma has been the definition of an "engaged, empowered, and educated" student. She has been involved with STUCO, Model UN, Eagles Guitar, founder of Econoventure, sports, and numerous AP courses, she’s done it all.

✨𝑬𝒎𝒎𝒂’𝒔 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔:
📚𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿: Social Science and Data Science, using data to improve societal policies and living standards.

🧱𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲: Completed a massive list of APs across both STEM and Humanities.

🗝𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: Maximum focus during class. By staying engaged with the lessons and teachers, she kept her evenings free for leadership in STUCO, MUN, and Volleyball.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate senior Hyunchan, who is currently facing the "best" kind of problem: choosing between three of the world’s most prestigious universities!

After four years at St. Paul, Hyunchan has secured acceptances from:

Hyunchan took a chance and applied to Johns Hopkins with a push from our University Guidance Counselor, Mr. Gus. He was surprised to find an acceptance letter from them this Spring, giving him a lot to consider.

👁️𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚 + 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏
How did he do it? By showing his range.
For his U.S. applications, he wrote a creative personal statement centered around his love for Legos.
For KAIST, he pivoted to a serious vision for genetic engineering, focusing on solving diseases at the DNA level.

📚𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑨𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑩𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅
Hyunchan’s resume is a commitment to hard work. He tackled some of the most difficult AP courses available, including AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics 1, while balancing leadership in Model UN, Mathletes, and the Eagles Guitar Ensemble.

Nhu has been accepted to an elite list of universities, including 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱, 𝗬𝗮𝗹𝗲, 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗗𝘂𝗸𝗲, 𝗨𝗖𝗟𝗔, 𝗨𝗖 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘆, 𝗟𝗦𝗘, and 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴’𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲. How did she do it? By balancing academics with authenticity.

📚𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Nhu has tackled a staggering 15 AP courses during her time at St. Paul, using the curriculum to sharpen her independent thinking and cross-disciplinary skills.

◻️𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲: In a world of "perfect" applications, Nhu focused on staying human. "If it’s not a good representation of your personality, it’s not a good essay," she shares.

🌟𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: Beyond the classroom, Nhu designed curricula for local elementary students and supported social entrepreneurship for local small businesses.

Nhu is currently weighing her options, looking for the right culture and academic flexibility between the American East Coast and West Coast.
