Volunteers Wanted, Hai Phong, Vietnam

Big Hero English Community center in Hai Phong city is currently looking for volunteers to help us out with our Current projects we are working on:

- Teaching English for mid- income adults and children
- Working with local volunteer group
- Option to teach English at the local Orphanage ( 2 times per week)
- Help to do fund raising for Agent orange victims village in city
- Helping with social media, designing and writing contents for website
Minimum length of stay is 3 weeks.

Prior experience not essential, but helpful. Must have a good level of conversational English.

You will be required to teach over 5 days, usually from 1.5 – 3 hours a day, it really depends on the number of volunteers we have at the time. You will have a lot of free time to discover the local area and there is a lot to explore: temples, rice fields just a few minutes drive from the city center, nice cafes everywhere around (the coffee culture in Vietnam is something to die for), or street food (calling all the foodies around, you will love it in here!).

WHAT WE OFFER

In return, you will receive free a.c dorm accommodation and two meals a day (not on Sunday) that our lovely cook cooks, free drinking water and free use of washing machine.
Learn and practice Martial Arts ( boxing, traditional Vietnamese martial)
Learn how to cook Viet cuisine
Guided tour to famous places around the North of Vietnam
Cultural exchange activities ( karaoke and football matches every 2 weeks)

The real reward is the connections and friendships that you will make with your students, local Vietnamese and the other overseas volunteers. Most of the people who came here for a short-term decided to stay longer or come back later.

Please contact us through the page and have a look at it for more information! We hope to hear from you soon

Our former volunteers usually come back!
We are so happy when most of the people who are volunteering with us are coming back. Most of the time, because they miss their students, they miss the place where they could feel like home or for other thousands of reasons (I'm sure that one of them might be the great food our cook cooks every day). The reason doesn't matter in the end, we are happy that we can see them again!
Meet Rachel, our former volunteer from England. This amazing lady is such a treasure for all of us. We could learn a lot from her as well as we know that we could teach her something new on her way. She was teaching adult communication classes as well as kids classes and all the students fell in love with her, with her positive attitude, with her amazing teaching skills, with her soul! She was staying with us for a long time and we missed her since the day she left. It didn't take so long and she is back, back in Vietnam, back home!
WELCOME BACK HOME RACHEL!🇻🇳️❤️😍

Post of a day! The weekend is over and it was a great weekend! What did we do?
We don't just teach together, we also have fun! This time it was a good combination of fun, help, and giving.
This weekend, we went to Dioxin village that is situated just a few km from Hai Phong on the way to Do Son beach. The story of this place is very sad and even though the war is already over, the chemicals still have bad affection for all the people living around and not just them. The chemicals are attached to the human genes for many generations. Many people who are affected by the gen disease are living in the village that we visited this weekend. We helped them to clean the place, we played with them, we talked a lot, and we also brought some food❤️❤️
There is never enough love in this world! Let's do something good together, let's change the world a little bit because every small step counts! 💪
It was great, we had a great time and we are sure that all of us enjoyed the time, even though it was very hard to see it at some point. It wasn't last time here, we will see you soon :)

Our students love their teachers so really often you will invite you home to have a family dinner, spend an afternoon with them or being a part of some celebration!
Thank you, Sarah, for being part of our family! You are always welcome back, back in Vietnam, back in Hai Phong, back HOME!
