🌏✨𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍–𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝐀𝐊𝐑𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔): 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
📌 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍-𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝐀𝐊𝐑𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔) is a strategic cooperation platform aimed at fostering the recovery and sustainable growth of tourism flows between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN Member States in the post-pandemic context. The programme is implemented under Article 5 of the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Area, serving as a policy dialogue mechanism to advance ASEAN-Korea tourism cooperation through knowledge exchange, policy recommendations, and the development of joint initiatives.
🌐 AKRT is an annual initiative organized on a rotating basis among ASEAN Member States within a three-year cycle. Following the successful inaugural round in Da Nang, the 2026 edition will be held in Jakarta. The 2026 Roundtable is co-organized with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, leveraging the experience and perspectives of the co-organizing country while providing a platform for dialogue on practical challenges and tourism development initiatives relevant to ASEAN-Korea cooperation. The event is co-hosted by 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 at 𝐃𝐮𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, with support from 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍-𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐅𝐓𝐀 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚.
🤝 Entering 2026, ASEAN-Korea tourism cooperation is transitioning from policy formulation to synchronized implementation. With a shared ambition to increase two-way tourist flows from 13 million arrivals in 2019 to 20 million in the near future, AKRT 2026 seeks to strengthen an effective collaboration platform among governments, businesses, academia, and media stakeholders. Through dialogue among 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐍𝐓𝐎𝐬) and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, initiatives will be monitored, connected, and advanced throughout the three-year cycle.
🧭 The vision of AKRT 2026 focuses on reducing “friction” across the entire visitor journey, from travel inspiration to on-site experience, through an integrated value chain approach in which each component reinforces the others to deliver a seamless, safe, and consistent tourism experience.
✨ Within this framework, The Inspiration ignites travel demand through cultural connections, emotional engagement, and creative content. The Entrance builds trust by simplifying travel and entry processes through digital solutions, biometric technologies, and smart travel corridors. The Experience Protector ensures that visitor journeys are supported by transparent and fair mechanisms, while minimizing administrative barriers and unfair business practices. Meanwhile, The Quality Engine serves as the core operational driver, enhancing service quality through human resource development and the integration of technology with a High-Tech, High-Touch approach.
✨ By integrating policy, technology, people, and culture, AKRT 2026 goes beyond a conventional dialogue platform to serve as an actionable blueprint for the future of ASEAN-Korea tourism, towards a more seamless, connected, and sustainable regional ecosystem.
