𝐖𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐬. 𝐋𝐢𝐦'𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬!

Today, we would like to introduce an online English conversation class taught by GC teacher, Ms. Lim. This class comprises three Japanese students from the Shibaura Institute of Technology and two Vietnamese buddies.

During our interview a week ago, some students were anxious about the language barrier between them and the teacher. As one student said to me, he couldn’t express his feelings well in English. Still, I thought this situation had clearly improved in this class.

The theme of the class was how to speak and present well in English. Ms. Lim frequently asked the students questions. For example, "How would you feel if you were suddenly asked to speak in front of a large audience?" Whenever she asked questions, some students volunteered to answer them. She also entertained and put the students at ease with her unique facial expressions and tone of voice.

After the class, we asked her about the improvements in the class atmosphere.

📝“At first, the students are very shy. I have been doing this for many years and know how to deal with these situations by creating a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. I always tell my students that the most important thing is to learn from their mistakes.”

📝“Sometimes students really have a hard time speaking at first, but I try to encourage them that even if they don't talk well at first, over time, as their vocabulary grows and they get used to the environment, they will be able to speak more.

📝“Now, students always speak up at first, actively saying, ‘Oh, I want to tell you what I think.’”

Whoever feels anxious about communicating in English has a chance to get over it. Ms. Lim and other GC teachers support you with warmful attitudes and experience-based knowledge.

On March 15, we observed Ms. Michelle's class. The class was active, the students actively raised their hands and stated their ideas to the teacher.

Fortunately, we have an opportunity to interview students. Students looked nervous, but they did their best to answer the questions below.

📍"How do you feel in your class?"
ー I feel interested and excited in my class. I feel comfortable in the mood of class.

📍"How do you feel about the relationship with your teachers?"
― My teacher is very close and friendly, so we can be easy to communicate with a teacher about our problems and concerns.

After that, I also had a chance to interview the teacher, Ms. Michelle, so I asked almost the same questions.

📍"How do you feel in your class?"
― I feel excited. Because students often ask many questions, so I feel that students can engage in class.

📍 "If students meet any difficulties, how do you deal with these problems?"
ー I am usually likely to talk to students and see what difficulties they have.

📍"What is your goal as the teacher?"
ー My goal is to make students comfortable to speak English and have confidence.

If I had not had opportunities to observe the class and interview, I would not have known the kindness of teachers and diligence of students. I believe that it is a good environment where teachers and students can easily communicate and learn English with each other.

On March 16, We got a great chance to visit one of the wonderful classes of our teacher, Mr. Shafiee Yakob, and his students. He is a professional teacher with plenty of enthusiasm for education.

We visited an undergraduate student's class in the English preparatory program at Greenwich University. Sooner had we opened the door of the classroom, we heard the amused chatter of the students!

Then, we were tempted to explore why they looked so pleased. So we got interviews with two of those students.

📌"How do you feel in your class?"
--- "We feel comfortable and happy, though it's hard to deal with many exams. hahaha."

📌"How is the relationship with your teacher?"
--- "The teacher is so charming. Sometimes we face language barriers with them, then we feel comfortable contacting him and other teachers and receiving support from them.

Fortunately, we could also have an interview with Mr. Shaffie and we asked how he deals with the language barrier the students mentioned.

📌"How is the relationship with your students?"
--- "As a teacher, I really enjoy working with students. Every day is different, challenging, and new. Teaching allows me to facilitate discoveries, unlock students' potential and encourage students to reach their goals."

📌"If students face any difficulties, how do you deal with them?"
--- "I try to attempt all of the problems as much as I can. As a teacher, I always tell the students never to be afraid to make mistakes because if you do not make mistakes, you will never learn."

📌"What is your goal as a teacher?"
--- "I want my students to come to my class and experience new things as something challenging and something interesting to build confidence, social skills, collaboration skills, and creativity."

After the interview, we wanted to be part of the teacher's class. We hope that this interview will be a good opportunity for our audiences to get to know our teacher, Mr. Shafiee, more than ever before.

On 11th February, within the framework of the official visit to Brunei Darussalam, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Universiti Brunei Darussalam and had an online meeting with UBD-FPT Global Center staff and students in Da Nang and Ha Noi.

UBD students expressed their delight at participating in the meeting and listening to the Vietnamese Prime Minister's warm sharing.

The meeting marked an important event for UBD-FPT Global Center and showed the interest of the Vietnamese Prime Minister in FPT University in general and UBD-FPT Global Center in particular.
