Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted was established on 08/19/1991. The city government funded the school to make it a "high-quality public school" with a total funding of 300 billion VND (appr. The school was then relocated to its new campus on 3-2 Street, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province in 2010. The new campus (90,000 m2 in total) brings about more learning space; modern, fully-equipped classrooms and labs. Le Quy Don High School Capsaint Jacques is recognized as the biggest school in Vietnam. In addition, the school also provides a football field, 3 basketball courts, a multi-purpose sport center, an exercise area, a canteen with the capacity of 1000 students, an artificial lake, 1 theatre, 2 parking lots, a park and a 30-metre hill. Teaching:
The school offers 12 classes for majors, each specializing in a single subject including: Mathematics (3 classes), Physics (2 classes), Computer science (1 class), Chemistry (2 classes), Biology (1 class), Vietnamese Literature (1 class), English (3 classes). Top 15 students of each class will receive a grant of 5.4 million VND (appr. $250) at the end of their semesters. Admission:
Students who want to be admitted must take an advanced writing examination specializing in 4 areas: Mathematics, Literature, English and a specific subject which they want to major in (this one is designed by the school committee with complicated questions both in research and practice fields to classify students into different classes based on their performances). 25-30 students achieving highest scores in the Province will be chosen for each class. First of all may we wish all of you a very happy Lunar New Year. We hope that the Tet holiday provided some opportunity for rest and relaxation before an extremely busy semester ahead, particularly for students taking university entrance examination this year.

Secondly, may we once again thank you for your continuing support for the school. This school year has started well and there is a feeling of continuing progress being made. We all believe that the months ahead will be months of further success and achievement.

At 7am on September 5th, 2016, Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, General Secretary of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Hanh P**c and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia attended the Official Opening school year Ceremony at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Vung Tau city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.

In her speech, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said: “I believe that Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted will fulfill its mission of inheriting learning tradition of the past 25 years and become one of the most typical model of high schools in Vietnam.”

Speaking at the Ceremony, the School Principal Le Quoc Hung pointed out the remarkable achievements that both teachers and about 950 students of the school had gained in the past. Students were given advice on effective methods for studying in order to deserve the honor of being Le Quy Don’s students. In the last academic year, the school won about 1500 academic prizes (including 110 in the National level). Many year 12 students has been successfully admitted to reputable universities around the world.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and the working groups planted 2 memorial trees as her gifts to the school.

On August 17th, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted - Capsaint Jacques organized a ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its establishment and received the Second Level Labor Medal awarded by the President of Vietnam.

In the past 5 years, students of the school have won thousands of academic prizes for their excellent performances at many international, national and regional academic competitions.

Speaking at the ceremony, the School Principal Le Quoc Hung congratulated the achievements and expressed his belief that the school will achieve more successes in the future.
