IELTS Writing Task 2: 'wild animals' essay
Wild animals have no place in the 21st century, so protecting them is a waste of resources. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Some people argue that it is pointless to spend money on the protection of wild animals because we humans have no need for them. I completely disagree with this point of view.
In my opinion, it is absurd to argue that wild animals have no place in the 21st century. I do not believe that planet Earth exists only for the benefit of humans, and there is nothing special about this particular century that means that we suddenly have the right to allow or encourage the extinction of any species. Furthermore, there is no compelling reason why we should let animals die out. We do not need to exploit or destroy every last square metre of land in order to feed or accommodate the world’s population. There is plenty of room for us to exist side by side with wild animals, and this should be our aim.
I also disagree with the idea that protecting animals is a waste of resources. It is usually the protection of natural habitats that ensures the survival of wild animals, and most scientists agree that these habitats are also crucial for human survival. For example, rainforests produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide and stabilise the Earth’s climate. If we destroyed these areas, the costs of managing the resulting changes to our planet would far outweigh the costs of conservation. By protecting wild animals and their habitats, we maintain the natural balance of all life on Earth.
In conclusion, we have no right to decide whether or not wild animals should exist, and I believe that we should do everything we can to protect them.

Cách trả lời dạng bài "Do you agree or disagree?"
Đối với dạng bài "Do you agree or disagree" - dạng khó chiến nhất trong IELTS, thì việc đọc kỹ đề bài và xác định sẽ viết cái gì là rất quan trọng.
Nếu trong câu hỏi có từ tuyệt đối (absolute words), ví dụ như: all, the best way, the only solution, the most effective method,... thì bạn sẽ viết khá dễ:
Body 1: Trả lời câu hỏi như bình thường
Body 2: Phản đối từ tuyệt đối. Ví dụ như "ALL children should be required to ..." -> Không phải tất cả children đều nên bị bắt buộc. Lấy ví dụ cụ thể.
Chúng ta xem một vài đề IELTS cũ:
Caring for children is an important thing in society. It is suggested that all mothers and fathers should be required to take childcare training courses. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
- Body 1: Bạn hãy nói rằng parents tham gia các khóa học đó là rất cần thiết.
- Body 2: Tuy vậy, không phải tất cả bố mẹ đều nên bị bắt tham gia. Ví dụ như nếu có ông bà -> babysitting, hoặc có thể tìm các sources of information khác: TV, magazine.
The best way for governments to solve the problem of traffic congestion is to provide free public transport in 24 hours per day, and seven days a week. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
- Body 1: Đồng ý là việc cung cấp free public transport -> giảm thiểu tắc đường.
- Body 2: Tuy vậy đó không phải là cách tốt nhất. Hãy chỉ ra các điểm yếu của giải pháp này và đề xuất giải pháp khác hợp lý hơn.
International community must act immediately to ensure all nations to reduce their consumption of fossil fuels e.g gas and oil. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
- Body 1: Đồng ý là các quốc gia nên hợp tác với Mr Vinh để giảm tiêu thụ fossil fuels.
- Body 2: Tuy vậy không thể làm ngay được vì các nguồn năng lượng thay thế chưa hoàn toàn phát triển và đủ sức thay thế.
Some argue that all young children should be required to stay with full-time education until they are at least 18 years old. Do you agree or disagree?
- Body 1: Đồng ý là trẻ em nên được tạo điều kiện đi học cho đến 18 tuổi - the age of maturity: better preparation for future job application.
- Body 2: Tuy vậy có nhiều gia đình không có điều kiện cho con đi học, đặc biệt là các gia đình nghèo ở VN. Họ cần extra incomes no matter how small, vì vậy Mr Vinh suggest that children có thể giúp đỡ bố mẹ. Khi đi học -> greater financial burden will fall on parents -> make the situation worse.
