PUBLIC NOTICE: Julius E. Sprauve School on St. John
The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) informs parents, guardians, and students of the Julius E. Sprauve School that there will be no school today on Monday, March 16, 2025, due to an ongoing outage that is currently impacting the school’s water supply.
The health and safety of our students and staff remain our highest priority. School operations will resume once the water service has been fully restored and the campus is able to safely accommodate students and employees.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay tuned to the official VIDE communication platforms for additional updates and information.
The Department appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter.

I'm so proud of my environmentalists, who enthusiastically volunteer to maintain a clean campus. They encourage others to do the same daily. We are happy that our students demonstrate pride and appreciation for what they have. Keep WINNING, Seagulls!!!

Happy Liberty Day, D. Hamilton Jackson Day, and Bull and Bread Day!
Bull & Bread Day reminds us of the enduring importance of free speech, labor rights, and community solidarity in the Virgin Islands.
Today, we commemorate David Hamilton Jackson and his fight for a free press, establishing the first labor union, and advocating for American citizenship, which were movements that forever changed the Virgin Islands. His courage and commitment to justice continues to inspire and mobilize generations of Virgin Islanders to build upon his legacy.
Jackson was an important figure in the struggle for increased civil rights and workers' rights on the islands. He petitioned for freedom of the press, and organized the St. Croix Labor Union. Following the transfer of the territory to American control in 1917, he lobbied for US citizenship for the islanders.
