Support UVI coral restoration this First Friday!

This Friday, Sept. 4, Taphus Beer House is dedicating its September First Friday to supporting Reef Response, the University of the Virgin Islands’ coral restoration program led by Dr. Marilyn Brandt.

Come out for a fun evening with a purpose! Meet and interact with UVI coral researchers, learn about the work underway to restore and protect our local reefs, and help raise funds to support continued coral restoration efforts in the Virgin Islands.

Today, August 31, we recognize International Overdose Awareness Day and stand together to remember those we have lost, support individuals and families affected by overdose, and promote life-saving action.

Knowing the signs of an overdose—unresponsiveness, slow or stopped breathing, and pinpoint pupils—can save a life. If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately.

UVI TO OPERATE ON NORMAL SCHEDULE; UNIVERSITY TO CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE WEATHER

The University of the Virgin Islands will maintain normal hours of operation on Monday, Aug. 31, on both the Orville E. Kean and Albert A. Sheen campuses.

Faculty, staff and students should report as regularly scheduled. Individuals affected by power outages or other weather-related circumstances should contact their supervisors or instructors, as appropriate.

UVI will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates through official University communication channels if circumstances change. The UVI community should continue to monitor the University’s official communication channels listed on the Emergency Preparedness webpage on the UVI website. Information on how to sign up for Bucs Alert and VI Alert is also available on this page.
