The Student Government Association’s Queens Committee on the Albert A. Sheen Campus invites the Virgin Islands community to it’s 2024-2025 Miss University of the Virgin Islands Ambassadorial Competition

Come and bear witness as these elegant young ladies dominate the stage and captivate their audience on Saturday, April 06, 2024 at 6pm sharp in the UVI Cafeteria.

Introducing Miss UVI 2024-2025 Contestant #1, Miss Morris is a Junior Psychology Major with a minor in Dance studying at the Orville E. Kean Campus.

Her favorite colors are lime green and turquoise.
Three words used to describe her are unique, passionate, and driven.

Miss Morris is a culture bearer who takes pride in being a Moko Jumbie. She also serves as the captain of the UVI Twirlettes.

When asked what advice would you give to your younger self, she responds with:
"You have to believe in yourself first.

" The why: " You have to be your biggest supporter because sometimes you are all you got."

Miss Mercado is a Sophomore
Pre-Nursing Major on the Albert A. Sheen
Campus.

Her favorite color is gold.
Three words used to describe her are: strong, funny, and intuitive. Miss Mercado works with local churches to aid members with learning technical support.

When asked what her favorite quote is, she responds with: "Never be limited by other people's limited imaginations." -Dr. Mae Jemison.

The why: "I chose this quote because I feel it showcases the art of believing in oneself without care of others' opinions.”

Introducing Miss Tyler C. Valmont, Miss UVI Contestant #4. Miss Valmont is a Criminal Justice and Biology Major studying on the Orville E. Kean Campus- St. Thomas. Her favorite color is green. Three words others would use to describe her are: loyal, enthusiastic and confident. Miss Valmont was a participant in a recent campus involvement activity where she assisted with creating community tea gardens on the Orville E. Kean Campus. In her spare time she enjoys reading. Prior to the pandemic, she enjoyed working as an intern in the Forensics Department of the Virgin Islands Police Department.

When asked what her favorite quote is a why, she responded with: “The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.” by Ayn Rand. The why: “This quote is a reminder that I don’t need permission to be great.”

She aspires to become a Crime Scene Technician and eventually a Forensic Scientist.

Her philosophy in life is “Life is short and it should be spent living it to the fullest.”

Introducing Miss Angelique B. Lettsome, Miss UVI 2022-2023 Contestant #3. Miss Lettsome is a Junior Biology Major with minors in Psychology and Communications studying on the Orville E. Kean Campus- St. Thomas. Her favorite colors are brown, yellow and turquoise. Three words others would use to describe her are: talented, independent, and ambitious. Miss Lettsome serves as an advocate for mental health where she has led and assisted with seminars and tabling events focused on assisting students with becoming more aware of their mental health. In her spare time, she enjoys: dancing, blogging, video editing, reading, writing, singing and drawing.

When asked what her favorite quote is and why, she responded with: “What if it doesn’t come true? Ah, but what if it does?” by Amber Scholl. The why: “This quote reminds me that sometimes you just need to quiet the negativity to see the possibility of something amazing happening.”

She aspires to become a Therapist and Blogger.

Her philosophy in life is “Life is about constant elevation.”

Introducing Miss Esonica C. Charles, Miss UVI 2022-2023 Contestant #2. Miss Charles is a Junior Biology Major studying on the Orville E. Kean Campus- St. Thomas. Her favorite color is blue. Three words others would use to describe her are: poetic, optimistic and introspective. Miss Charles enjoys volunteering at the Humane Society on St. Thomas and the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center. In her spare time, she enjoys music, baking, poetry and yoga.

When ask what her favorite quote is and why, she responded with: “You can be a good person with a kind heart and still say no.” by Anonymous. The why: “Often times, kindness is seen as a weakness, but it is actually a huge strength. It takes strength to be empathetic and to form boundaries for self-preservation.”

She aspires to be a Primary Care Physician.

Her philosophy in life is “Progress not perfection.”

Introducing Miss Tamia K. Grant, Miss UVI 2022-2023 Contestant #1. Miss Grant is a Junior Chemistry and Physics Major with a minor in Computational Science and Mathematics studying on the Orville E. Kean Campus- St. Thomas. Her favorite color is blush pink. Three words others would use to describe her are: self-aware, inspiring and understanding. Miss Grant is a member of an after school program that collaborates with Engineers for Tomorrow Outreach where they work towards developing a STEM program that allows students to participate in projects with engineers. In her spare time she enjoys: writing poetry, stationery shopping, makeup art, exploring multiple streams of income and coding.

When asked what her favorite quote is and why, she responded with: “Everything in moderation, including moderation.” by Oscar Wilde. The why: “Growing up, her mother used this quote often to instill the lessons of balance and priorities..”

She aspires to become a Chemical Engineer with a focus in pharmaceuticals and later Chemistry professor.

Her philosophy in life is “The struggles that I face every day are necessary for my evolution, I refuse to give up.”
