In order to better prepare SCEC graduates to succeed in college and beyond, the Diversity Awareness Club (DAC) will challenge SCEC students to expand their horizons and grow in their capacity for dialogue and cross-cultural competence. Croix, with its history of seven flags, is well regarded as a cultural melting pot where different ethnicities, beliefs, and forms of expression can thrive. This is our opportunity to truly be the diverse mecca that we’ve always claimed.

Today, our school welcomes Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina to become an Associate Justice on the United States Supreme Court. Justice Sotomayor is admirable not only for that feat, but also the ideas that she stands for. She is a shining example of what inclusive policies and racial equity thinking can do for our nation.

Complacency doesn’t create change. Cooperation and action does. Forty-nine years later, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream for equality still eludes us locally and nationally. On the anniversary of Dr. King’s birthday, the SCEC Diversity Awareness Club encourages you to raise your voice, and advocate for what you believe in.

On Tuesday, November 15, 2016 the Diversity Awareness Club held it's inaugural meeting with 13 youth leaders in attendance. Way to go students!

This is our opportunity to truly be the diverse mecca that we’ve always claimed.
To quote the Mission Statement of the V.I. Dept. of Education, our education system aims to produce “globally diverse citizens.” The DAC is here to be an instrument of that mission.
Our mission is simple. We will live and learn and lead together "in partnership for the advancement of all."
