We had the opportunity to learn from artist, John Obafemi Jones who is recognized locally and nationally for his work. Deeply rooted in jazz and blues music, his paintings “evoke feelings of wellbeing and excitement very like improvisational aspects of jazz.” Under the direction of John and a violin, the children used this concept for creation.

Last week, we worked with local Saint Croix artist, Tahirah AbuBakr where we examined the topic of mask making. Through mask making the students had the opportunity to imagine an identity other than their own, while altering the way the world views them. We thank artist, Tahirah for giving them the knowledge to express themselves. 👏👏
Thank you Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands for your continued support.
