Spanish for beginners: Genders of nouns, basic to learn Spanish... enjoy it. THE = LA/ EL... LA is for feminine, those words ending in "a" . EL is for masculine, words ending in "o". Some exceptions will apply, EG. Agua (water), Aguila(eagle), even when they end in "a" the correct form will be: El Agua, El Aguila, because those words begin with "A" so, will be incorrect say LA- Agua, it sounds awkward.
