Croix Adult Education aim is to give learners a second-chance education in a nonthreatening environment that is learner centered. All the programs have a friendly and adult feel to them. Your needs are respected in a personalised and learning manner. A wide range of educational opportunities are offered to learners who are 18 years of age or older, not enrolled in secondary school under territorial law; who lack mastery of basic educational skills; do not have a secondary diploma or its recognized equivalent; are unable to speak, read or write the English language; and who are acquiring the necessary skills for citizenship. Croix Adult Education Program Offerings:
English AS a Second Language (ESL) component is designed to teach students whose primary language is not ENGLISH to speak, read, and write English. It provides the clients an avenue to begin becoming self-sufficient within the community. Adult Basic Education (ABE) component offers courses in Reading, Writing Skills, and Mathematics. Students whose score 6.9 or below on the Test of Adult Basic Education (T.A.B.E) are enrolled in this component. General Education Development (GED) component of our program provides assistance for students needing preparation for the GED test. In order to enter the class, students must score a 7.0 or better on the T.A.B.E. Students who have taken and successfully passed the PreGED and the GED examination will be awarded credentials equivalent to a high school diploma. Adult Secondary Education (ASE) curriculum follows the same format as a regular high school. Students entering from an accredited school will be placed accordingly. All other must score an 8.0 or higher on the T.A.B.E to enter the ninth grade. At the completion of the program, students will receive the high school diploma. PLATO Online Diploma Program is also offered for students who may need a few more credits to graduate (Not to exceed four credits). PLATO provides students with an online experience that is media-rich and highly interactive, making credit recovery engaging and attainable. It includes in-depth, on-grade-level classroom instruction, supported by comprehensive, online, self-paced curriculum for the student. Testing
Test of Adult Basic Education (T.A.B.E) is administered weekly. This test remains is the most comprehensive and reliable academic assessment tool used to measure achievement in reading, mathematics, language, and spelling. component offers courses in Reading, Writing Skills, and Mathematics.
