Shuman Piano Studio

Shuman Piano Studio Private Piano Studio located on St. Croix, USVI Marsha Shuman started teaching piano in 1961 while a student at Northwestern University. Mrs. Croix.

She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Music degree with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy from Northwestern University. She holds diplomas in Suzuki intermediate level teaching from the Chicago Suzuki Institute, and her Orff-Schulwerk level I certificate from Hofstra University. Shuman also trained at Mt. Mary College in Montessori teaching. She served as music consultant and teacher for Marilyn Carson’s Montessori School in the 1970’s and the Montessori Program at Manor School,in the 1980’s, both on St. Shuman taught in the Preparatory Dept. of Northwestern University before opening a private studio in Glenview, IL. Upon moving to St. Croix, she taught music courses at CVI in the 1970’s and has maintained a private studio since 1972. Shuman is a member of Music Teachers National Association. In 1968 she was one of the first certified piano teachers in Illinois. In 1969 she was nationally certified by MTNA. She has been a member of the organization for more than 50 years.
