Middle and Upper School students have 21 clubs to choose from this year, with opportunities to create, compete, explore, lead, connect, serve, and simply spend time doing something they love. From art and books to Model UN, ocean conservation, games, wellness, culture, student media and more, today's Club Fair showed there’s plenty of room for them to try something new, dive into an interest, and find their space 💙

Behind this morning’s Popdarts challenge was also board full of Physics — and a little of what Academic Support Team members Blakely Bell and Malen Adams envisioned for the Student Success Center: a place to drop in, work through a challenge, follow a curiosity or take something they’re learning a little further.

Because sometimes the lesson goes a little further when you get to test it yourself.

Physics that sticks. 🎯

Harrison Oriol ’28 (the thrower) and Segev Griffith ’28 took their Physics studies to the Student Success Center this morning, using Popdarts to put force, motion and a little strategy into action.

And that landing? Joined by Omar ‘30, Harrison nailed the Wiggle Nobber — a Popdart balanced right on top of another. 🙌

Just another way the Student Success Center is giving Middle and Upper School students room to learn, experiment, and make connections beyond the classroom.

A little science, a little summer reading — and a 1.75-liter bottle.

Sixth-graders started the year with teacher Noah Schuette by building on their summer read, The Thing About Jellyfish, connecting its science and social-emotional themes to their work in class. Most recently, students tackled a deceptively simple question: What’s the fastest way to empty a 1.75-liter bottle? They researched different approaches, tested their hypotheses and compared results, getting a hands-on introduction to experimental design, variables and the all-important realization that the method you think will be fastest…isn’t always.

Third grade show-and-tell is officially underway!

Teacher Rebecca Rodriguez recently kicked off the first round of the year with presenter Oliver Stewart '36, who arrived with a very special guest on loan from first grade: class pet Mr. Pricklypants, a hedgehog who understandably had plenty of questions coming his way. Beyond the fun, show-and-tell gives students a chance to practice speaking in front of their peers, listening closely, asking thoughtful questions and sharing a little more about themselves with their classmates. We love a good read — but one with an Antilles connection is even better. 💙

Former Antilles parent Zenzi Hodge took her newest book, “I Am,” to the Harlem Book Fair this past weekend — but it had already found some fans among our students. Former Division Head Jean Barrows purchased a copy for the Lower School Library, and Head of School Shannon Harris invited her back to campus to do the honors, sharing “I Am” with our first-grade classes before giving it a permanent spot on our shelves — ready for plenty more little Hurricanes to discover. 📚

Speaking of shoutouts…💙 ELC + Lower School Director Angie Manning introduced a new shoutout system at Friday’s Morning Meeting, giving students and faculty a way to recognize one another for kindness, good choices and all the little things worth celebrating. She kicked things off with shoutouts faculty had submitted for one another, including a big one for our Maintenance and Facilities team, who got a well-deserved clap out for all their work this summer getting campus ready for opening day.

And the crew behind the challenge…💙 Meet this year’s Upper School Executive Council: Caleb DeCourcey '27, D’Waine Gumbs '27, Meher Makhijani '27, and Dominika Skoda '27. They’re already off to a pretty great start bringing fun and energy to Middle and Upper School.
