Aaron Rapp and Ayishih Bellew represented the University of the Virgin Islands at the AI Health Equity Symposium, hosted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded AIM-AHEAD program. Advances in AI/ML technologies are making significant strides in improving health outcomes, but regions like the Virgin Islands are often overlooked in these developments, representing a health equity issue. The Eastern Caribbean Center-UVI, department of health AHEAD Consortium, and Morehouse School of Medicine are working to address this disparity. We are focused on building capacity, developing data repositories, and fostering partnerships to ensure that the Virgin Islands are included in these important advancements.
