Welcome to the OFFICIAL Lockhart K - 8 School page. In 1995 the original school was destroyed by Hurricane Marilyn.

Built in 1962, the Sugar Estate Elementary School was renamed the Lockhart Elementary School by Act No. 937 approved by the Fifth Legislature on February 21, 1963. This was done to recognize the humanitarian qualities and honorable acts of the late Alfred Harris Lockhart, Sr, patriarch of the Lockhart Family. IMPORTANT SUMMER PROGRAM UPDATE
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Acceptance notifications for Lockhart K-8 School's 2026 Summer Programs have been sent to the email addresses provided on applications. Unfortunately, some messages were returned as undeliverable.

If you submitted an application before the deadline and have not received a response, please visit the school on Monday, June 8, 2026, to verify your child's placement on our program rosters.

Please note that spaces cannot be held. Any student who does not report on the first day will forfeit their seat, and available openings will be offered to students on the waiting list beginning Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
