CANCER PAIN NOT EASY, MY FIGHT TO LIVE STORY!
I am Higman Peters and I have prostate cancer. Many people don't understand how painful it is, but at times in my crisis, I can't lie down, sit, stand because of chronic pain. I am hypertension and with diabetes.

So with the pain my pressure would rise causing me to be hospitalized. It's a hard life with cancer. When we as cancer patient asked for financial assistance it's because we need the support. My family don't have the resources to meet my needs medically plus changing diet is quite expensive.

So I am asking you to support my GoFundMe campaign organise to help offset my medical expenses. You can donate by clicking the link below.

https://gofund.me/6bb7febe

I welcome your support. If everyone can donate US5, $10 or $20 it would go a long way in helping me to stay alive. It's not easy to be in constant pain and wasting away in your bed just waiting to die.

I believe I can beat this cancer with your generosity and support. Please, I am appealing to you to help me survive this and together, I believe we can do this together. May God truly bless your generosity. Thank you!
Our annual Sunshine School Auction would have been held today but due to Covid 19 it has been cancelled.
The Auction is essential for raising the bulk of our annual operating funds each year and without the income from it, the school’s financial position will be in a worrying situation. We are therefore appealing to all of our very generous supporters who, over the years, have bid at and/or donated items to the auction to continue to show their valued support for the school by considering making a cash donation. We would also like to thank all those that have already made a donation.

If you would like to donate, even a small amount will be of great help, please do so via the following options:

By visiting the donations page on the Action Bequia website and specifying donations to the Sunshine School in the drop down box. https://www.actionbequia.org/donatetoothernow.php

OR

Send a cheque in any currency to the Sunshine School PO BOX 90 BQ, Bequia, St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Dear Sunshine School Supporters

Happy New Year to you all, which we hope will be better than the last one!

It is with extreme regret, due to COVID19, that we announce the indefinite postponement of the 2021 Sunshine School Annual Auction.

This year we have 25 special needs children who would otherwise receive little or no help. Only with your kind donations can the school continue to thrive and the children who attend continue to benefit.

If you would like to donate, even a small amount will be of great help, please do so via the following options:

By visiting the donations page on the Action Bequia website and specifying donations to the Sunshine School in the drop down box. https://www.actionbequia.org/donatetoothernow.php

Another successful completion of a term filled with uncertainties. We must pause and pay homepage to the One who carried us through safely to the end 🙏🏼. We must also thank all our many donors who would have in one way or the other contributed to the well-being of our students and members of staff. Special “thank you’s” to our entire staff for the excellent job they do. The members of the school board who support us, thank you! Parents for trusting us with their children, we thank you.

As part of our monthly activities, each student who celebrates is recognized. Let us say happy belated birthday to those students and enjoy scenes from our closing day celebration.

[09/24/20]   Good day parents/guardians. As we are all aware, dengue fever is real and deadly. So, in keeping with the mandate of the ministry of Health and Education we have updates that we want you to pay attention to:

*As of Monday September 28th 2020, parents are asked to dress their children in long khaki or jeans pants, along with their yellow (boys) or white (girls) school shirt, or a long sleeve white shirt to help prevent them being bitten by mosquitoes.

*Parents are also reminded to give their children repellant to add further protection from mosquito bites.

*Note also they absolutely NO cut-up jeans would be allowed.

The aim is to protect our children from contracting the dengue fever, so let us all adhere to these guidelines to ensure that our school environment remains as safe as possible for our students to learn together in harmony.

Parents please, if your child is sick (running a temperature, runny noise, constant coughs etc) keep them home and contact the clinic nearest you to seek advice from a medical expert.

Thank you for your usual cooperation. Let us continue to keep our children free from diseases.

Those who are already sick with the dengue fever, remember to stay hydrated and follow ALL medical advice. We will continue to pray for your speedy recovery.

[09/21/20]   FIRST AID ACTION FOR DENGUE FEVER!

1. All Fever and Pains MUST be managed with ACETAMINOPHEN (Paramol, Paracetamol, Panadol, Aramol, TYLENOL, Co-codamol)!

DON'T USE ANY OTHER PAIN OR FEVER MEDICATIONS!!

2. Start a regimen of ORAL hydration. Coconut water, Gatorade, Powerade, ORS) along with water, juices et cetera.

3. Cold baths, wearing thin garments or little garments can help lower fever.

4. SEEK MEDICAL REVIEW

5. IRRESPECTIVE of medical review. Red palms, bleeding gums, red patches on skin, chalk-white tongue, generalized weakness, no urine production in five hours are reasons to SEEK REVIEW by your medical team!

6. CHILDREN MUST BE COAXED TO DRINK FLUIDS AND MONITORED CONTINUALLY. DON'T LEAVE IN CARE OF IMMATURE SIBLINGS AND CARERS.

7. Testing for monitoring the platelets and laboratory CONFIRMATION of Dengue Fever is an IMPORTANT aspect of management.

8. Fever and Pains presents within first five to six days BUT the most DANGEROUS aspects of the disease generally comes after so PHYSICIAN/MEDICAL team management is PARAMOUNT!!

9. CHILDREN ARE NOT LIKE ADULTS. THEY BECOME DEHYDRATED EASILY LEADING TO ORGAN FAILURE AND MUST NOT BE MANAGED AS YOU WOULD AN ADULT!

10. ASSUME THAT ALL FEVER AND PAINS ARE DUE TO DENGUE FEVER!!

DENGUE FEVER KILLS!!!! Please help us protect each other by being extra vigilant.

[08/25/20]   If you can donate or sponsor a child, please inbox

Many schools are looking at either going online for the opening of a new school year, or going back to the classroom. Members of the public are complaining that a lack of access for some means they will be left behind, which is true. The thing is though, should nobody move forward because a small percentage is without access?
Those of you who can help, please reach out to a teacher or even parents in your community and assist them.
How?

1.Donate an old laptop/tablet you don’t use.
2. Technicians, offer your services to repair devices. (Sometime a device is discarded when it can be repaired at a minimal cost).
3. Open your wifi so a neighbour without internet has access.
4. Offer to print work from a teacher for a child without access.
5. Donate printer ink to a school to assist with bulk printing.
6. Help a parent who is not tech savvy to prepare their child for online.

Help each other.

NOBODY asked for covid19 to be here.

Many people are being irresponsible and putting the children at risk, but kids who are left behind are not at fault.

We can all do our part, whether you are financially able or not, a simple effort to check in on someone else is an act of kindness that goes a long way.

Please share or copy and paste so others can donate too. Thank you kindly.

The Sunshine school family is in mourning; we have lost a great contributor to our team. Please join with us as we sympathized with the family of the late Mr. Ronald Charles (Luke) Cutajar of Canada. Thank you Mr. Ron for your contribution to the Sunshine school. We will surely miss you. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

And the results are in...congratulations to the students who wrote the CPEA examination on their success. Your future is very bright, keep shining like the diamonds you are. All the best in your new schools.

[07/13/20]   Anybody know where I can get fruit trees? I am looking to source trees to plant at my school: avocado, plum rose, wax apple, lime, lemon etc...please, let me know where I can find them. Preferably as a donation as my school is non-profit and can’t afford to pay a great deal, if at all, for such trees. Thanks in advance to my generous donor/s 👍🏼

Here’s something for our CPEA students to assist with getting them ready for the exams. Thank you parents for accepting the challenge to work with your children through this trying period. We appreciate you🙏🏼

[04/08/20]   Schools in St Vincent and the Grenadines will not reopen on April 14 as previously scheduled.

St Clair Jimmy Prince, the minister of Education made the announcement this evening, during the Supplementary Estimates debate.

Prince also posted on his page, saying that “we will reassess the situation in two weeks time”.

“Students are urged to continue their learning through online modality,” the minister said. “Stay safe all and continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols as outlined by the Ministry of Education.

The Sunshine School Family is soliciting the help of ALL the prayer worriers out there. Two of our students are down but by no means broken, for He is still in control. Alysha Jack had a fall couple weekends ago and is now nursing a broken shoulder while Jaydon Kydd was involved in a vehicular accident on Sunday and is now nursing a broken leg among other injuries. When members of our family are not well, the entire family feels their pain. But this too shall pass said the Lord and by His stripes they will be healed. To their families our thoughts and prayers will always be with you🙏🏼
