Saint Vincent Grammar School (abbreviated S.V.G.S) is a secondary school located in Richmond Hill, Kingstown, on the island of Saint Vincent in the Caribbean. Established in 1908, it is the oldest institution offering secondary level education in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and is a single-sex school. Entrance to the school is by an academic selection test called the Common Entrance Examinati

on, acceptance granted traditionally to those male students who rank in the top 150 places of his gender in the examination. The Saint Vincent Grammar School is one of the most academically successful and consistently high achieving secondary schools in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, consistently ranking among the top three schools based on Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations results. In the past five years, the school has recorded pass rates of upwards of 85%. There are approximately 700 pupils on the school roll (2016-2017). On behalf of the Headmaster, staff, students and alumni of St. Vincent Grammar School, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Lennox John on his passing.

Mr. John was an outstanding past student of the institution, before joining the staff as a teacher in 1960. He pursued further studies and returned to St. Vincent Grammar School in 1989 when he was appointed Headmaster. He served with distinction until his retirement in 1997.

His lifelong commitment to the school, both as a student and an educator, leaves a lasting legacy that will be remembered with gratitude and respect.

May he rest in eternal peace.

The recipient of this year’s George Phillips Award, Aaron McDonald, has distinguished himself as an exceptional student leader, role model and ambassador for both his school and community.

Throughout his secondary school journey, Aaron has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to service and leadership, serving as Interim Head Boy, President of the Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCCF), President of the Red Cross Society, Vice President of the Student Council and a member of the Peer Council.

He has proudly represented the school at numerous local and national events, including the CXC Consultation Round Table Discussion, a Career Expo hosted at the Cruise Ship Terminal and a Youth Symposium on School Violence Prevention. His achievements include winning a National Red Cross Video Competition and placing second in both the National Youth Tourism Competition and the school's Internal Public Speaking Competition.

In recognition of his outstanding leadership, academic prowess and dedication to youth development, Aaron was awarded the George Phillips Excellence Award by the Rotary Club of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We proudly celebrate his achievements and congratulate him on this well-deserved honour.
