Our students will now have an easier time preparing soil for the planting of crops as part for their Associate Degree in Agricultural Science and Entrepreneurship programme.

This comes as the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries recently donated a Meccanica Benassi RL 408 tiller, valued at $10,500 XCD, to be used in our crop area at our DTVE.

Lecturer Michker Edwards welcomed the donation, saying that it is important that students be exposed to modern practices in agricultural production and that the college provides as best as possible the necessary foundation in and exposure to such practices. In a field such as agriculture, Edwards stressed the importance of hands-on experience, which she sees as beneficial to the development of student-managed enterprises.

Chief Agricultural Officer (Ag) Renato Gumbs, also committed to donating a 1000 gallon water tank to our agricultural programme, which is expected to be delivered this week.

Tillers are used to loosen compact soil by digging and mixing to allow for the planting of crops.

🚨🚨 NO COVID OUTBREAK AT SVGCC 🚨🚨

There is currently NO covid-19 outbreak at the SVGCC.
Allegations of such are not only unfortunate, but also very irresponsible.

Today our Villa administrative offices were closed for sanitisation.
This decision came after being informed that approximately four of our employees attached to that building recently paid their colleague (another employee) a home visit, as that employee is presently on leave for unrelated reasons.

Following their visit, this colleague who was already on leave tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday 14th, 2021.

As a result, we made the decision to close and sanitise our Villa administrative building effective immediately and request that these employees undergo a COVID-19 test and also isolate.

Preliminary results for these employees are negative.

The on-leave employee who has been out of office since May 4th 2021 is still on approved leave.

We reaffirm our commitment to the fight against COVID-19, and recognise the significance of a joint fight in this pandemic.

At the SVGCG we have installed sanitisation stations around our campuses, hired nurses who provide daily temperature checks to all students, staff and visitors entering our compounds, implemented the mandatory wearing of masks, upgraded and retrained our janitorial staff on COVID-19 cleaning standards, adopted a blended-learning approach to reduce on-campus numbers and encourage the practice of social distancing at every SVGCC division.

At a time when misinformation is heightened, wrongly sensationalised and quickly circulated, we reiterate the need for the responsible dissemination of information, especially information that may induce instances of panic/anxiety.

There is presently no COVID-19 outbreak at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

We're back!!
Effective Monday May 10th, 2021 we have resumed all classes and have physically reopened our offices.

This resumption will see the return of face to face classes for many students since we last switched to a fully-virtual format in December 2020. All administrative offices that went virtual as a result of La Soufriere’s explosive eruption, have also resumed physical operations.

Please remember you MUST wear a mask when visiting any SVGCC compound. We also encourage you to undergo a temperature check upon arrival, sanitise regularly and social distance.

Need to get in touch with us? Call (784) 457-4503 or visit our website at www.svgcc.vc
