IELTS - General & Academic

The first question to ask when you find out you have to take the IELTS exam is:
“Which version of the IELTS should I take? The Academic or the General Version?”
This is important because the scores are not interchangeable so there’s no point in studying for or appearing for the wrong exam! We strongly encourage you to find out specifically, in your case, which version of the exam you need to do, based on the requirements of your receiving institution.
The Academic IELTS exam is the more advanced test. This version is generally used to determine whether candidates are qualified to enroll in undergraduate and graduate academic programs where English is the medium of instruction.
The General IELTS exam is the simpler test. It focuses on basic survival skills in social and educational contexts. It is generally requested for candidates applying for immigration, working in certain professions, or studying at a non-degree level.

IELTS Vocabulary: Why is it important?
Of all the skills and techniques you need to do well in the IELTS test, vocabulary is definitely one of the most important. IELTS vocabulary preparation can be overwhelming, but we'll try to help you with everything you need to know before doing your test.

It makes up 25% of your total mark in the Writing and Speaking tests. Not only this but did you know that the Listening and Reading tests are really vocabulary tests too?
Below we will talk about how you can improve your IELTS vocabulary.

The Correct Way to Learn IELTS Vocabulary
The only way that you can learn new words and then use them properly is if you learn them from context, or in other words, from real sources of information, not lists.

Below is a 5 step plan to help you increase your range of vocabulary.

1.Pick a book, TV show, radio show, podcast or magazine you are interested in. Don’t pick something boring because you will not stick to the plan and you will easily get distracted. People learn more effectively when they enjoy what they are doing.
2.Buy a special notebook. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just something that you can write in every day.
3.Read or listen to whatever you have chosen and pick out 15 words you don’t understand. Listen or read and try to guess what they mean from the context. (This step is very important because it will help you remember them.) Note the 15 new words down in your notebook.
4.Look up the new words in a dictionary. You can do this online. Beside each word note the meaning, an example sentence or two, collocations, synonyms, antonyms and pronunciation. You can also draw pictures; whatever will help you remember the word.
5.Review the new words after one week, two weeks and then one month. Also, practice using the new words in a sentence.

If you do this five days a week, after a month you will have nearly 100 new words in your notebook. After 6 months you will have at least 500 new words.

Too many jokes on 'blurred boss' today :-)

Вестминстер Университети битирувчилари ва бошка етакчи мутахассислар томонидан олиб борилган Узбекистондаги таълим сохасидаги катта изланиш.

Это было сложно, почти нереально, но мы это сделали!

4 месяца неустанной работы, десятки литров выпитого кофе, тысячи километров в пути, неизмеримое количество нервных клеток и… работа, которая казалась невыполнимой в начале, проделана благодаря усилиям всей дружной и целеустремленной команды DGP Research and Consulting!

По заказу Министерства народного образования и Министерства высшего и среднего специального образования Республики Узбекистан нашей компанией проведён опрос с целью изучения текущей ситуации в системе образования страны и выработки рекомендаций по реформированию.

Это был поистине бесценный, уникальный и незабываемый опыт. Мы повидали интересные, красивые, самобытные уголки нашей удивительной республики. На пути встречались высокие горы, бурные реки, зеленые равнины и бескрайние степи. Мы познакомились, поговорили по душам с 7 766 респондентами и посетили образовательные учреждения от Кувасая до Кунграда, от Термеза до Учкудука. И не осталось ни одного региона, куда бы не ступала нога нашего интервьюера). Учитывая многонациональность нашей страны, интервью проводилось на узбекском, русском, таджикском, казахском и каракалпакском языках. Бывало, что видели слёзы людей, для которых возможность высказаться давала надежду на улучшение (признаться, иногда и сами не могли сдержать слёз…). Встречались люди весёлые и грустные, жизнерадостные и унылые, жаждущие перемен и довольные статусом кво. Родители, студенты, заведующие детскими садами, директора школ, колледжей и лицеев, ректоры и проректоры ВУЗов, педагоги, руководители местных органов управления образованием – все они сложились в интересный и красочный калейдоскоп лиц и характеров, многие из них останутся в нашей памяти надолго.

Несмотря на капризы погоды и неизвестность местности, наши интервьюеры выполняли поставленные перед ними задачи на все 100. Были моменты, когда нашим интервьюерам приходилось несладко - бежали от собак, получили дозу радиации в Учкудуке и Тамдыбулаке, попадали в недоброжелательное окружение жителей отдельных махаллей, грелись возле печи в мороз, НО (!) чаще это всё таки был позитивный опыт, за что и хочется поблагодарить наш гостеприимный и открытый народ!

Спасибо вам, дорогие жители нашего края:
ЗА понимание и интерес к изучаемой теме – несмотря на немалое количество вопросов в анкетах, респонденты терпеливо и с чувством ответственности отвечали на все вопросы, понимая важность мнения каждого;
ЗА гостеприимство – были случаи, когда интервьюеров охотно приглашали домой, наливали горячий чай, накрывали щедрый стол, угощали разными сладостями, а в дорогу заворачивали с собой кое-какие вкусности, чтобы они также угостили других коллег. У НАС ЗАМЕЧАТЕЛЬНЫЙ НАРОД!!!

КАТТАКОН РАХМАТ всем респондентам, а также всем интервьюерам за их ответственность, самоотдачу и выносливость, ведь кое-где интервью завершалось ближе к полуночи… )))

P.S. А вот обработка собранных данных – это уже совсем другая история, заслуживающая отдельного внимания))
