Se acerca la Conferencia de LABCI y nos gustaría destacar algunos de los oradores destacados que tendremos en este evento online de tres días:
- Diane Larsen-Freeman es profesora Emerita de educación y lingüística, investigadora científica emérita y ex directora del Instituto de Lenguaje Inglés de la Universidad de Michigan.
- Penny Ur tiene treinta años de experiencia como profesor de inglés en escuelas primarias, intermedias y secundarias en Israel. También ha impartido cursos de BA y MA en la Universidad de Educación de Oranim y la Universidad de Haifa.
Antonieta Megale es profesora del programa de posgrado en Lengua y Literatura de la Universidad Federal de S ão Paulo (Unifesp). Además, coordina el diploma de posgrado en Educación Bilingüe y el programa de extensión en el Instituto Singularidades, donde también es profesora en el Departamento de Pedagogía.
- Ingrid Finger es profesora asociada en el Departamento de Lenguas Modernas y el Programa de Graduación en Lingüística y Literatura en UFRGS, donde coordina el Bilingüismo y Cognición Laboratorio (LABICO). Ella tiene un doctorado en Lingüística de PUC-RS (2000).
- Tha ïs Cristófaro Silva es un lingüista cuyo principal interés está en la organización de sistemas de sonido en los idiomas del mundo. Actualmente trabaja como investigadora (CNPq, FAPEMIG) y profesora en el programa de posgrado de lingüística en UFMG.

The LABCI Conference is approaching and we’d like to highlight some of the featured speakers we’ll have at this three-day online event:

-Diane Larsen-Freeman is Professor Emerita of Education and Linguistics, Research Scientist Emerita, and former Director of the English Language Institute at the University of Michigan.
-Penny Ur has thirty years’ experience as an English teacher in elementary, middle and high schools in Israel. She has also taught BA and MA courses at Oranim Academic College of Education and Haifa University.
-Antonieta Megale is a professor of the postgraduate programme in Language and Literature of the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp). In addition, she coordinates the postgraduate diploma in Bilingual Education and the extension programme at the Singularidades Institute, where she is also a professor in the Department of Pedagogy.
-Ingrid Finger is an Associate Professor at the Modern Languages Department and the Graduate Programme in Linguistics and Literature at UFRGS, where she coordinates the Bilingualism and Cognition Lab (LABICO). She has a PhD in Linguistics from PUC-RS (2000).
-Thaïs Cristófaro Silva is a linguist whose primary interest is in the organisation of sound systems in the world's languages. She currently works as a researcher (CNPq, FAPEMIG) and lecturer at the Linguistics Postgraduate Program at UFMG.

First Plenary speaker confirmed for the 18th LABCI Conference!
Antonieta Megale is joining us in one of the most important ELT events in Latin America. She will be sharing with us her knowledge on Bilingualism, Cognition and Proficiency.
Antonieta has an MA in Applied Linguistics from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). She was a visiting fellow at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt in Germany. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow of Applied Linguistics at PUC-SP. She is a professor of the postgraduate programme in Language and Literature of the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp). In addition, she coordinates the postgraduate diploma in Bilingual Education and the extension programme at the Singularidades Institute, where she is also a professor in the Department of Pedagogy. Furthermore, she works as a consultant in language studies for primary education institutions.

Other Plenary and Keynote speakers confirmed for the conference will be announced soon. The 2021 LABCI Conference will be an online event from 15 to 17 October.
