Bonjour!
As the end of the year is approaching quickly, we have been exploring the different holiday traditions in some French and German speaking countries around the world in class.
Madame Ingrid was really happy when one of her private students selected "Entre le boeuf et l'ane gris" as one of her favorite French Christmas songs. It is a very sweet and simple song, see link to youtube video in the comments.
When it comes to German Christmas songs, we are also posting a link to one of Madame Ingrid's favorites ("Es ist ein Ros' entsprungen")

Bonjour!
I know some people don't agree with this, but I always like to teach the alphabet early on when someone wants to learn a new language.
I think it helps to get an understanding of the letters that are used in the language you are trying to learn.
In the case of French, German and English, which are the ones I am fluent in, with the exception of a few accents here and there, the alphabet is the same, consisting of 26 letters, from a to z.
Check the comments for some youtube links for alphabet songs, in case you wanted to practice.

Bonjour! Guten Tag! Hello!

What new project have you been working on lately?
Now that I met the students for the before school French program at Zionsville West Middle School and was able to assess their current level, I am crafting a good program for them to learn as much as possible while still having fun.
We will continue to use TPR (Total Physical Response) during our classes, which is a technique that seems to work well and that the students enjoy. This year, my goal is to expand our use of TPR to basic storytelling, which is the next step.
I can't wait to report back on that!

Last week, we played a fun game to teach the student how to ask questions: each one of them had a paper on their back, with the name of a food item that is considered typically French. 🍾🥖🥐🐌They had to ask their peers questions, in order to find out what that item was. The students were engaged and we had a good time!
