Today was my last day having “Cat’s Kid’s Yoga” here at Bonnie’s Lakeside Childcare. We were blessed to have connected a few years ago and to both Cat and I we were sure surprised once I hired her that we realized Cat was moving to Sandy lake! What a small world. 😄 She is a wonderful children’s yoga teacher!! ❤️ Thank you Ms. Cat❣️

Connection 👥. Yoga makes a stronger connection with ourselves and others. To warm up we played a game called Hurry Up Chicken Butt. It was like a hot potato but when the chicken stopped clucking we picked a mindful card and did the exercise together. Then we moved around the room doing large motor exercises, when the music stopped we did a yoga pose in a hoop. To calm down we found our breath with a tulip pinwheel.

Shine on! ✨ Today we did space yoga. Everyone has a light within them, yoga helps us find the light, and then we can share it with others. Each child made a star bracelet. Then we did a yoga space adventure with a fine motor line drawing worksheet. Lastly, we used glow in the dark stars for breathing buddies.

End of the month Beach Picnic Day - Swimming, caught a skink, paddle boat ride and playing in the sand.

Building blocks 🧱. Yoga helps create healthy skills that the children can build on as they get older. Today we used yoga blocks! We warm up by making steps stones out of the yoga blocks and put a snake pit in the middle. The goal was not to fall in the snake pit. Then we did balancing yoga poses on a yoga block. Next, we built towers while doing legs up the wall pose and table top pose. Lastly, we used cats as breathing buddies.

Summertime fun!!

Grounding 🐛. Grounding, also known as earthing, Is a technique that involves connecting your body to the earths natural electrical charge. The idea is that this connection can have a positive effect on your health and mood. Bugs are close to the ground. We warmed up with two songs. “Slow Snails and Busy Bees” by Piccolo Music and “Herman the Worm” by The Learning Station. Then we took turns and picked a toy bug out of a big net. We did the yoga pose together for 10 beats on the drum. Lastly, we used butterflies as breathing buddies.
