Muskingum County Board of DD Proudly serving people with disabilities in Muskingum County for over 50 years.

MCBDD provides services to individuals who have a developmental
disability through Early Intervention program (ages 0-2), Preschool (ages 3-5),
Schoolage (ages 6-21). Adult Services provides employment opportunities to
individuals in our sheltered workshop, transitional/enclaves and community
employment.

Earlier this week, we had the honor of celebrating the Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who make a meaningful difference in the lives of people supported by the Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Local DSPs show up every day with compassion, dedication, patience, and heart. They help create opportunities, build independence, encourage inclusion, and provide the support people need to live full and meaningful lives in their communities. 🌟

As part of our celebration, we were proud to present awards recognizing some of the outstanding DSPs who go above and beyond in their work. These awards are a small way of saying thank you for the tremendous impact you have on the people and families we serve. Thanks Michael Hogan, DSP & Provider Support Specialist, from DODD for joining us in the celebration.

What an incredible morning at the Muskingum County Fair Grounds! 🐄🐑🐔🐐🐇

Today, 12 participants took part in Our Greatest Showmen, an inclusive livestock show celebrating inclusion, friendship, confidence, and the joy of showing livestock. Each participant was supported by 4-H mentors, who shared their time and knowledge to help make the experience special. 💙

Most importantly, we are so proud of our 12 participants who stepped into the show ring this morning. Their courage, enthusiasm, and smiles reminded us that everyone deserves the opportunity to participate, learn, build relationships, and shine. 🌟

Thank you to every 4-H mentor, family member, volunteer, community partner, and supporter who helped make Our Greatest Showmen possible.

Today, everyone was a showman! 🏆❤️

Check out this group of transition aged students from Starlight School, who participated in Jacob’s Camp! Over the last two weeks, campers created artwork, enjoyed bowling, and exploring the community. Jacob’s Camp was made possible by a donation from Art and Toby Rogavin.

Campers explored the community by shopping for supplies for their arts and crafts projects. They made personalized flower pots and canvas bags.

They bowled at Sunrise Bowling Alley, watched Toy Story 5 at the Cinemark Movie Theatre, explored Timber Run Gardens to pick out plants, and enjoyed visiting the Circle KD Tree Farm for a fun day of fishing and hiking in the beautiful wooded area surrounding the property.

A special thank you to all the community locations, the staff, the campers and their families, and to everyone else who made the camp a success!

Preschool and school-age students and families are invited to attend Starlight Open House on Thursday, August 13th from 3 to 5pm. This will give students a chance to meet their teachers and staff, see their classrooms, and drop off any school supplies before the first day of school.

Enrollment packets have been mailed. If you do not receive your enrollment packet by July 31st or if you have moved, please contact the school at 740-455-4176.

Please complete packet and return as soon as possible.

Our summer hours are 7:30-4 M-F. We hope you are enjoying your summer and look forward to seeing you for the 2026-2027 School Year!

Do you know a DSP who has been a star this year? Nominate them for the MCBDD Star DSP Awards.

The MCBDD Star DSP Awards recognize Muskingum County’s Direct Support Professionals who have provided extraordinary care to the individuals they serve.
Parents or guardians, providers, fellow DSPs, and individuals served are encouraged to nominate a local DSP for this special recognition. There is no limit to the number of DSPs each person may nominate.
