10 years ago, ZHS FFA wrote a grant to help introduce fruits and vegetables into the diets of our youngest students. Fast forward to today, and our Farm to School Program is still going strong!
Fun Fact: Some of the high schoolers that put on Farm to School today were in the very first group of students to come!
Did you know that nearly 90% of adults do not meet their daily fruit and vegetable recommendations? We're working to help reverse that statistic by teaching healthy habits early and making nutritious foods fun and exciting.
This year, our Ag III and Ag IV students researched fruits and vegetables, created recipe books, and led engaging 7-minute learning stations highlighting a variety of healthy foods. From strawberry pizza, guacamole, salsa, kale smoothies, pumpkin pie, and cucumber sandwiches... the possibilities were endless!
We had an amazing day learning and laughing with our ZELC friends.
A special thank you to our high school students for their hard work, creativity, and leadership.
ZELC parents: Be on the lookout for your child's cookbook! Many students shared that they can't wait to make pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving or convince YOU to give a kale smoothie a try!
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our Farm to School Program and help us grow healthy habits for the future. ❤️
