Welcome Back, Reagan Families!
As we begin another exciting school year at Ronald Reagan Elementary School, I want to extend a warm welcome to all of our returning families and those joining our Reagan community for the first time. We are honored that you have entrusted us with your child's education, and we sincerely thank you for being our partners in helping every student succeed.

Why Attendance Matters
• Every school day counts. New lessons are taught each day, and the class continues moving forward.
• Students who miss school, arrive late, or leave early miss valuable learning that is difficult to replace.
• The more instructional time students miss, the harder it becomes to keep up with classmates.
• Please keep your child home only when they are sick or have a fever. Whenever possible, schedule appointments outside of school hours.

Attendance Celebrations
To encourage great attendance, we will be holding weekly drawings for those students who had perfect attendance the prior week. In addition, we will be celebrating students twice each quarter—at mid-quarter and end-of-quarter.
Students who meet the attendance criteria for:
• ✔️ Absences
• ✔️ Tardies
• ✔️ Early Checkouts
will be invited to participate in these special celebrations.

Dear Patriot Parents and Guardians,

Beginning this school year, Arizona's Healthy Schools Act requires schools participating in federally funded meal programs to follow new nutrition guidelines during the regular school day. These guidelines prohibit schools from serving or selling foods and beverages that contain certain ingredients identified in the new state law. The requirements apply to school meals, classroom celebrations, vending machines, fundraisers, and any food provided or sold by the school during the school day. Parents and guardians may still provide food for their own child.

One of the biggest changes families will notice is that cupcakes and many other traditional birthday treats may no longer be brought to school to share with classmates. In addition, snacks and treats intended to be shared with a class must meet very specific nutritional requirements established by the State of Arizona.

Ronald Reagan Elementary School is committed to following these new state requirements while continuing to provide students with healthy, nutritious meal options. We will be sending more detailed information soon, including a list of approved snack options and answers to frequently asked questions. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we implement these new guidelines together.

RR teachers recently completed a four-day training as part of earning and maintaining their K–5 Literacy Endorsement. The training focused on systematic phonics instruction and the Science of Reading, helping educators strengthen literacy instruction and build strong foundations for student success.
