Kofa High School Kings

Great news! Kofa High School will be open as regularly scheduled tomorrow, Thursday, August 6, 2026. The bell will ring for first period at 7:34 a.m.

A backup chiller was installed and the air conditioning worked as expected overnight Tuesday and through Wednesday morning. Thank you to the facilities team for their work to resolve this situation and in ensuring the safety of our students and staff.

Your patience and understanding over the past several days has been greatly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming all of our Kings back to their castle on Thursday.

As a reminder: Avenue A will be closed between Parkview Loop and the north entrance to Smucker Park (near Solana Drive) due to the removal and installation of underground utilities by DPE Construction. It is recommended that all families affected by the closure allow for extra time commuting to and from school. Commuters are encouraged to access Avenue A from 32nd Street or Palmcroft Drive.

Kofa High School will remain closed tomorrow, Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

ALL students will attend class virtually from home using the Canvas Learning Management System.

The installation of a backup chiller was completed Tuesday and the air conditioning is cooling the school. However, we are allowing for an additional 24 hours for classrooms to reach safe and comfortable temperatures for staff and students.

Practices and athletic events for fall sports will proceed. Please look for communication from your child’s coaches for details of any modifications to times or locations.

Out-of-season sports and after-school clubs will not hold practice or meetings.

An update about the status of school for Thursday, August 6, will be sent by 1 p.m. on August 5. Updates will be communicated to parents via ParentSquare and posted on district and school social media accounts.

Schools across Yuma Union High School District will hold open house events to welcome families into the 2026-27 school year.

The events are an opportunity for students and families to meet their teachers, find classes on campus, learn about classroom and school expectations, gain information about community resources and school extracurricular opportunities, and get excited for the upcoming school year.

For information about a specific event or what type of activities will be taking place, families are encouraged to contact their child’s school.

Today and tomorrow are the last two days of registration for all seven YUHSD schools!

Yuma Union High School District, in partnership with Onvida Health, will be hosting a no-cost sports physical event on July 31, 2026 at Cibola High School.

Exams will be conducted by Onvida Sports Medicine Fellowship Program Director Dr. Ryan Zerr and other medical residents.

A physical is required to participate in Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) competition. All physical examinations completed at the event will cover the student-athlete for the 2026-27 school year.
