’Twas the night before school, and all through the breezeways,
Not a student was stirring—just quiet, warm days.
The backpacks were packed by the doors with great care,
In hopes that first-day excitement soon would be there.

The teachers were nestled in classrooms so neat,
With lesson plans ready and notes at each seat.
The pencils were sharpened, the books set in rows,
And bright bulletin boards gave a welcoming glow.

When out on the campus there arose such a clatter,
It was parents and children—tomorrow would matter!
New shoes, nervous smiles, and a little first-day fright,
All waiting with hope for the morning’s first light.

So rest well, dear students, and families too—
A wonderful year is beginning anew.
We cannot wait to see all God has in store;
Welcome back, Yuma Lutheran—we’re ready for more!
