Packed rooms and a great morning of learning, refreshing and preparing for the season ahead!

Today, Yuma Safe Produce Council hosted our annual Food Safety Refresher for Supervisors, bringing together supervisors and agricultural leaders from across the Yuma community for important updates and reminders on food safety, workplace responsibilities and best practices.

This year’s refresher was dedicated to the memory of Vicki-Lynne Scott, our president, whose leadership, dedication and impact meant so much to our organization and community. We were honored to recognize her and the lasting influence she has on Yuma Safe Produce Council.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our presenters for sharing their expertise. It’s always great to see such a strong turnout and commitment to continued education as we head into another season.

Registration has officially opened for the 2026 Annual Supervisor Food Safety Training!

The event will be held on Thursday, August 20th from 8:30-11:30 am.

Sessions will be available in English & Spanish at the Four Points by Sheraton.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Vicki Scott, whose leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the Yuma Safe Produce Council and Arizona agriculture.

Vicki was more than our President. She was a mentor, advocate, and trusted leader who believed deeply in food safety, education, and supporting others in this industry. Her guidance helped shape professionals across agriculture, and her commitment to excellence will not be forgotten.

More than anything, Vicki built community. She led with strength, generosity, and a genuine desire to see others succeed.

Our hearts are with Vicki’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her. Her legacy will continue in the work we do every day.

Today is National Ag Day and we recognize the ongoing work happening behind the scenes to keep our food supply safe.

In Yuma County, agriculture is not only about growing fresh produce — it’s about maintaining strong food safety practices every step of the way. Through training, education, and collaboration, the Yuma Safe Produce Council works to support the people and programs that help ensure produce is handled responsibly from the field through harvest.

We are proud to work alongside growers, harvest crews, food safety teams, and industry leaders who are committed to continuous improvement and high standards in agriculture.
