Classes are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Students attend twice per week for three hours and complete an additional 2–3 hours of required online practice.

📣 ALPS IS HIRING PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS!

Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona (ALPS) is seeking:

Part-Time Mathematics (MAT) Instructor
Part-Time English Language Arts (ELA) Instructor

📅 Start Date: October 2026—Quarter 2
📆 Schedule: 2–3 days per week
⏰ Class Times: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 noon or 1:00–4:00 p.m.
💵 Compensation: Based on experience

ALPS is also planning to offer evening ABE classes beginning in Spring 2027. Applicants interested in working at night are encouraged to apply and indicate their evening availability.

Qualifications:

Experience in the applicable subject area is required.
Must be able to obtain an Arizona Adult Education Teaching Certificate within 30 days of hire.
Must be able to obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card within 30 days of hire.
A passion for helping adult learners achieve their educational and career goals is essential.

📣 NOW HIRING: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT I – SUPPORT SERVICES

Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona (ALPS) is seeking a friendly, dependable, and organized individual to join our team beginning in October 2026.

Position: Administrative Assistant I – Support Services
Status: Part-time, 28 hours per week
Pay: $16 per hour
Location: Yuma, Arizona

Key responsibilities include:

• Answering telephone calls
• Greeting and assisting new and existing clients and visitors
• Maintaining student waitlist reports
• Proctoring student assessments
• Assisting the Office Manager and Program Director
• Securing and closing the building
• Providing general administrative and student support services

Minimum qualifications:

• High school diploma or High School Equivalency diploma
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
• Some college education preferred

Quarter 2 schedule—October through December 2026:

• Monday and Wednesday: 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
• Tuesday and Thursday: 12:00–8:00 p.m.

Beginning in January 2027, the position may transition to Monday through Thursday from 12:00–8:00 p.m. Applicants must be available for the listed schedule and potential schedule change.

📚 NOW HIRING: Adult Basic Education (ABE) Hybrid Independent Study Instructor 📚

Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona (ALPS) is seeking an energetic, organized, and student-centered educator to join our team as an Adult Basic Education (ABE) Hybrid Independent Study Instructor.

This position provides a unique opportunity to help adult learners achieve their educational goals while offering flexibility to students whose work schedules, family obligations, transportation challenges, or other life circumstances make traditional classroom attendance difficult.

Position Responsibilities

✅ Provide instruction and academic support in:
• Mathematics
• Reading and Language Arts
• Social Studies
• Science
• Civics

✅ Teach MAT 100 face-to-face twice per week

✅ Serve approximately 20–30 Hybrid Independent Study students

✅ Meet with students at least once per week for required instructional sessions, either in small groups or one-on-one

✅ Monitor student progress, attendance, and academic performance

✅ Ensure students complete required progress testing and achieve measurable skill gains

✅ Work collaboratively with the ABE instructional team to maximize program performance measures, student outcomes, and High School Equivalency success rates

Schedule

📅 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

⏰ 8 hours per day

📍 Yuma, Arizona

Minimum Qualifications

✔ Bachelor's Degree (Required)

✔ Teaching experience preferred, but not required

✔ Ability to obtain an Arizona Adult Education Teaching Certificate within three (3) months of hire

✔ Ability to obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card within thirty (30) days of hire

✔ Strong technology, communication, and organizational skills
