Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona (ALPS) is proud to continue our valued partnership with the San Luis Library to provide high-quality English language instruction to our community.
Our Adult Education Literacy Coordinator, Raul Uriarte, offers Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced English Language (ESOL) classes Tuesday through Friday. Raul is an outstanding instructor who creates a welcoming, engaging, and supportive classroom where students gain confidence, improve their English skills, and work toward their personal, educational, and career goals.
Whether you're just beginning to learn English or looking to strengthen your communication skills, we're here to help you succeed!

📚 NOW HIRING: Adult Basic Education (ABE) Hybrid Independent Study Instructor 📚

Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona (ALPS) is seeking an energetic, organized, and student-centered educator to join our team as an Adult Basic Education (ABE) Hybrid Independent Study Instructor.

This position provides a unique opportunity to help adult learners achieve their educational goals while offering flexibility to students whose work schedules, family obligations, transportation challenges, or other life circumstances make traditional classroom attendance difficult.

Position Responsibilities

✅ Provide instruction and academic support in:
• Mathematics
• Reading and Language Arts
• Social Studies
• Science
• Civics

✅ Teach MAT 100 face-to-face twice per week

✅ Serve approximately 20–30 Hybrid Independent Study students

✅ Meet with students at least once per week for required instructional sessions, either in small groups or one-on-one

✅ Monitor student progress, attendance, and academic performance

✅ Ensure students complete required progress testing and achieve measurable skill gains

✅ Work collaboratively with the ABE instructional team to maximize program performance measures, student outcomes, and High School Equivalency success rates

Schedule

📅 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

⏰ 8 hours per day

📍 Yuma, Arizona

Minimum Qualifications

✔ Bachelor's Degree (Required)

✔ Teaching experience preferred, but not required

✔ Ability to obtain an Arizona Adult Education Teaching Certificate within three (3) months of hire

✔ Ability to obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card within thirty (30) days of hire

✔ Strong technology, communication, and organizational skills

✔ Passion for helping adult learners succeed
