Rifle: You will need to sign up for tryouts.

Drill: You will need boots — these will be provided to you by JROTC.

JLAB: You will need Chromebooks.

Drill and JLAB begin September 1st! Make sure you have everything you need before your team starts!

Congratulations to Cadet Thifanny Cardenas for being awarded the Civilian Marksmanship Program $3000 scholarship! It proves all you have to do is put in the time and dedication and good things will happen.

Congratulations to Cadet 1st Lieutenant Genesis Cardenas on receiving a $60,000 scholarship from the Helios Education Foundation! Genesis plans to pursue a dual major in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering and a minor in physics, at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Oregon Institute of Technology. Cadet 1st Lieutenant Cardenas has demonstrated dedication, leadership, and commitment both in and out of the classroom. We are proud to see her hard work and determination open doors to an amazing future. Congratulations, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Cardenas, Kofa MCJROTC is proud of you!

The Kofa High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) Rifle team had 2 Rifle Team members compete at the JROTC National Championship, which was conducted from 25–29 March 2026. Cadet Mildreth Hernandez was Kofa’s top finisher, placing 21st out of 140 marksmen from around the country.

This is the third year a Kofa JROTC Rifle Team or Rifle Team Marksman has competed in the All-Service National Rifle Championship. The two Marksmen did a phenomenal job representing Kofa High School, Yuma, and the State of Arizona. Kofa was the only team that represented Arizona at this prestigious event. The two marksmen were Senior Mildreth Hernandez and Senior Thifanny Cardenas. Hernandez had the best finish of any Kofa Marksman at Nationals.

During the awards banquet, she received her Gold Distinguished Shooting Badge on stage, which means she accumulated her 30 Excellence in Competition (EIC) points for shooting in high level events. For her performance and placing in the top 50% at a National event, Cadet Cardenas received 3 EIC points. Cadet Cardenas is 3 points away from earning her Silver Non-Distinguished shooting badge, which she can obtain at the CMP National Rifle Championship this summer.
