After 22 weeks of rigorous academic instruction, physical training, scenario-based exercises, and leadership development, these recruits have successfully completed one of the most demanding milestones of their careers. Their graduation marks the beginning of a lifelong commitment to serving and protecting the communities of Arizona.
As these new officers report to their respective agencies, they will begin the next phase of their professional development through field training, where they will continue building on the knowledge, skills, and judgment developed throughout the academy.

Building Stronger Partnerships for Public Safety

Recently, LETA Director Alfonso Zavala hosted a collaborative meeting bringing together representatives from Arizona Western College's Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA), Yuma County Arizona@Work, and local law enforcement agencies.

The discussion focused on strengthening partnerships and identifying funding opportunities to support future law enforcement academies and workforce development initiatives. Through continued collaboration, these organizations are working together to ensure the region has access to high-quality training programs that prepare the next generation of public safety professionals.

Arizona Western College remains committed to supporting our community's law enforcement agencies by providing innovative training opportunities and developing a strong pipeline of qualified public safety personnel.

Yesterday, Arizona Western College's Public Safety Institute was honored at the Arizona Workforce Summit with High Impact Training Awards recognizing the success and workforce impact of both our Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) and Detention Officer Training Academy (DOTA).

These awards reflect the dedication of our instructors, staff, students, and agency partners who work tirelessly to prepare the next generation of public safety professionals for careers serving communities across Arizona.

This recognition highlights the strength of collaboration between Arizona Western College and our law enforcement partners, ensuring that graduates are workforce-ready and equipped with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism needed to succeed in the field.
