🏖️ THAT'S A WRAP: 2026 Migrant Summer School 🎉

Today marked the final day of our Migrant Summer School Program. Check out the photos from our last day of summer classes, our end-of-program celebration, and examples of our HISEP student feedback! 📸

A heartfelt thank you to our migrant students, dedicated summer school staff, and supportive parents for making this program such a success. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Ecaterina Avelar, OELAS Director of Program Effectiveness, and Rogelio Ruiz, Migrant Education Program State Director, for their collaboration and support in making this summer program possible. A special thank you to Heidi Koski for providing the valuable training and ongoing support that equipped our staff to better serve our migrant students.

We are so proud of everything our students and staff accomplished this summer. What an incredible way to wrap up our Migrant Summer School Program! Have a safe, fun, and well-deserved break! ☀️🎉

🌞📚 Today we successfully completed Day 14 of our Migrant Summer School Program!

This afternoon, our dedicated Summer School Teachers, Instructional Coaches, and Migrant Advocates participated in a wrap-up session with Educational Consultant Heidi Koski. During the session, staff reflected on their experiences and completed a Staff Feedback Survey to help us continue strengthening and improving our program for the families we serve.

The Migrant Education Program is grateful for the dedication, collaboration, and hard work of our entire summer school team. Together, we are supporting student learning, growth, and success throughout the summer. Thank you to everyone who helped make this program possible!

After 33 years of dedicated service, our Data Specialist, Elva Nuñez, is retiring. While we will miss her dearly, we wish her all the happiness, relaxation, and new adventures that retirement brings.

On Monday, June 22, 2026, our two Migrant Summer School sites welcomed Yuma School District One Federal Programs Director Rob Monson for a visit!

During the visit, Educational Consultant Heidi Koski showcased the powerful learning taking place this summer. She highlighting the effort and growth happening every day in our classrooms.

We are incredibly proud of our Migrant Summer School staff for their dedication and commitment to the program, and even more proud of our students for their hard work and accomplishments this summer. What a difference they have made in just a few short weeks!

And the celebration isn’t over yet! On the last day of summer school, Friday, June 26, 2026, students will wrap up the program with a fun-filled ice cream sundae and board game celebration to honor all they’ve achieved.

The learning continues next week as we begin the last week of summer school. We will finish the week with a fun end-of-program celebration to recognize and celebrate all of our students' accomplishments! 🎉🏆
