Day 2 of the CSW Grappling Camp! We got to learn some the Gran Master himself, Gran Master Rigan Machado! Had a promotion too!! Michy got her blue belt! Congrats to her and everyone else who got belted and stripes. We also got to so much information with the Ruotolo brothers! Such great men to be around. So excited for tomorrow’s session with the great Heath Sims!

Every beginner is told to keep their hands up.

Then they watch someone like Anderson Silva fight with his hands down and wonder if the basics don’t matter.

They do.

The difference is that elite athletes earn the right to break the rules because they’ve already mastered them. They understand timing, distance, reactions, and positioning at a level that most people never reach.

That’s true in striking, and it’s true in jiu-jitsu.

The flashy techniques get the attention, but the fundamentals are what make them work.

Master the basics first. The creativity comes later.
