Todays blast memo from Dr Vargas was very informative, however, this only stated what measures, programs, and processes are already in place and does not address any future plans for implementation of additional safety measures. This was a poor attempt at appeasing the reader and provided a false sense of security that the school district is listening. The end then deflects back to the parents and dismisses every previous word. Where is the ownership and accountability? We have made it very clear that we want communication about next steps, about a plan to increase safety, that is not what this message conveyed. Thank you for the reminders of what is not working, this is not satisfactory. We want a plan of next steps for increased safety measures, we won’t settle until we get it.

In light of the rise of safety concerns, lockdowns, fights, threats and most recently, Friday’s lockdown, with the conflicting communication delivered about the severity of the incident vs the communication of cancelling the football game for safety reasons, there is zero transparency about these incidents and it makes one wonder what else they ARE NOT TELLING US. Take a stand for our children’s safety at YVHS.

Proposal: Keep kids home this week and make it known to the district that if they don’t act fast in the kids best interest, they will force us to remove our kids from the district and seek alternative education where their safety is not in jeopardy.
