The Administration has proceeded with mass layoffs in and closed Head Start regional offices across the country, including in San Francisco. This move will have immediate negative impacts on communities across California, as this office provides critical support for the state’s federal grants. Without federal staff to process these federal funds, it will impact the ability for Head Start to continue providing services to children in our state. Technical assistance and support to protect child health and safety will also be impacted. The Administration's decision will make it harder for these programs to function and will be disruptive for children and families who rely on these services.
