We're excited to share that the newest issue of North State Parent magazine features an article about Siskiyou County Office of Education's Outdoor Education Program!
The article highlights the outstanding work of SCOE Science Specialists Stacia Anderson, Christian Birch, and Jason Singleton, whose hands-on learning experiences help connect students with the natural world and inspire curiosity about science.
The feature also includes a brief look at SCOE's Arts Program, which is modeled after the successful science program and brings engaging, hands-on arts education opportunities to students throughout Siskiyou County.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the Siskiyou County Office of Education — and we have a lot of exciting things to share with you!
We'll start with with a few pictures from the recent 2026 DKG Gamma Nu Teacher of the Year (TOY) Awards, presented by the Siskiyou County Chapter of DKG California and the
Siskiyou County Office of Education.
County Superintendent Allan S. Carver and Deputy Superintendent Barry Barnhart were honored to take part in recognizing this year's honerees, including the Siskiyou County Teacher of the Year Catherine Gilbert from Willow Creek School and Teacher of the Year Runner-Up Angelina Rosberg from Fort Jones Elementary School. Last week, Siskiyou COE’s Deputy Superintendent, Barry Barnhart, and Early Childhood Education Coordinator and CSPP Director, Amanda Elsemore, had the opportunity to present at the CAAEYC (California Association for the Education of Young Children) Conference.
They shared insights with early childhood practitioners from across the state and beyond on the topic, “From Conflicts to Connections: Navigating Difficult Conversations with Staff and Families.”
We’re proud to see their leadership and expertise supporting stronger communication and relationships in early childhood education!

Earlier this week, Siskiyou County Superintendent of Schools Allan S. Carver joined county superintendents from across California at the 2nd Annual Educational Leadership Summit. The event brought forward the voices of our local students, staff, and families directly to state leaders, including our local legislators, Senator Megan Dahle and Assemblymember Heather Hadwick. It was a meaningful day of advocacy, helping ensure rural communities like ours are represented and heard.

Siskiyou County Office of Education is proud to celebrate Adult Education Week, April 19–25, 2026!
We are committed to supporting adult learners at every stage of their educational journey. In recognition of this important week, the Siskiyou County Board of Education Trustees recently adopted a resolution encouraging the California Legislature to recognize the important role of K–12 Adult Education in addressing the needs of our communities—both in the short and long term—and to increase access to programs and services for the most in-need and not yet reached members of our great state.
