TRIOTA and WGSSO student organizations are back at EMU!
Triota (Iota Iota Iota) is a national academic and service-based Women's and Gender Studies honor society. The Greek letter, Iota, was selected to represent the three goddesses Inanna, Ishtar, and Isis. Triota strives to maintain feminist values central to women's and gender studies.
Eligibility requirements include a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, at least 2 WGST courses completed, and a Sophomore or higher (through last semester Grad student).
Members who graduate in good standing will be given an honor cord to wear with their graduate regalia.
WGSSO is the Women’s and Gender Studies Student Organization, working to create inclusive feminist spaces on campus. WGSSO is open to undergraduate and graduate students from all fields of study. In order to create a more accessible organization, Triota, the women’s and gender studies honors society, is now incorporated within WGSSO. Students graduating with the required GPA will still have an opportunity to become members of the honors society. (See below for more on Triota.) The Women’s and Gender Studies Student Organization is committed to upholding feminist values and fighting for equality and social justice on Eastern Michigan University’s campus and across greater Ypsilanti and Southeast Michigan communities.
As these organizations return to campus, please consider supporting their current service drive as they collect donations for local children in need. Here is the wishlist of one local child, and you can purchase directly from the list to be shipped to the club for donation: https://www.amazon.com/registries/holiday/1Q1289VCWHA1U/guest-view?fbclid=IwAR21LKypD_77ZDBTjPDmCQdERAIRrFhFmZ2Xq5QpfpJmaK6rrSnFPprbmig
If you are interested in learning more, or joining either group, please email Club President Katie Kiacz at [email protected].
