At the request of a scout, I’m considering hosting a 2-part Insect Study MB session virtually. It would likely be hosted on 2 Sunday evenings about 2-3 weeks apart to allow scouts to collect their insects. If you’d be interested, please comment below or message me!

Scouts - Join us on Saturday, August 22 for Storm Breaker Stables' first-ever Horsemanship Badge Workshop! This all-day, hands-on experience is designed for youth ages 10+ who want to learn more about horses while working toward badge requirements.

Participants will spend the day at the barn actively engaging in horse care, safety, handling, grooming, and horsemanship activities led by experienced equestrians.

Good morning families. I am still out there but workshops had stalled a bit. Mostly due to the GTA and what it specified. I know my workshops were engaging and approved of by families and scouts, I just have to thinking them a bit differently.

During winter this is a great time to run a couple workshops. If anyone has a request if one of my workshops I could probably set it up. My merit badges are listed on a pinned post on the page.

I’m inclined to run a longer running Family Life session, maybe a couple fun badges as well. Just let me know!

Twice now I have run a slower paced Communication Merit Badge Workshop with the intention of working directly with scouts who may need additional time, or who have an IEP. It worked really well for those participants and their parents. I will be running the multi session workshop again starting in August.

I'll be running a Cooking Merit Badge workshop on Monday, August 5 at 7:00pm EST. During this 1.5- 2 hour workshop, scouts will work on all discussion points for requirements #1-3 and #7. Scouts are expected to follow and actively participate in all discussions, answering questions, posting comments in chat and being present during the meeting.

Generally speaking this is not a first year scout badge since the meals prepared for rank advancement or other merit badges may not count toward the Cooking merit badge. That being said, the discussion part is important, and tips will be given to help a scout prepare for all cooking requirements.

I figure there may be a few of you within a reasonable driving distance that may be interested in this event. I am the chairperson for it! :P I do have scouts driving in from far northern Michigan, so why not Ohio, Illinois or Indiana - Bet some of you are within that 5 hour drive!!!

Need a place to stay? Camp Teetonkah and Camp Miakonda are the nearest scout camps!

Did you know that your unit does not have to attend a merit badge day in order for your scout to attend? The Alpha Phi Omega merit badge day at Eastern Michigan University is a great way to knock out a couple merit badges during the winter months!

This year there are 20 merit badges being offered across many subjects. From Eagle required or more simple merit badges perfect for a first merit badge experience. Don't be intimidated by pre-requisites either, our staff is here to help your scout learn AND earn!

We are excited to have many merit badges being facilitated by college professors, working industry leaders and Alpha Phi Omega leadership! You won't find a better way to earn merit badges like Geology, Oceanography, Chemistry, Weather, Electricity, Chess and Healthcare. There are even a couple merit badges not often offered, like Railroading and Dog Care!

A custom designed patch is back this year too, and those taking the Art merit badge will have the opportunity to help design the patch for the event NEXT year.

Hello All. For lack of a better excuse, let's just say that things have been CRAZY in our household after returning from working summer camp. We had a major flood in early September that cascaded into many issues all the way through last week and ended with us needing a new hot water heater and major furnace repairs! So I have been backlogged.

I have worked with many scouts individually BUT have not answered scouts when they messaged w/o a second adult. I had plans to run some sessions too and have not set those up.

I will set up 3 times over the holidays for scouts to touch base with me over Zoom. These sessions would be for scouts who already have been working on merit badges and just need to touch base to complete a requirement or two.

If your scout is interested in meeting on a Zoom call, I will limit each call to 4-5 scouts. I need to know the following when messaging:

1) Merit Badge and workshop date taken
2) Full name of the scout
3) What requirements they wish to discuss

All times are in CST (I am in Michigan) so be sure that this works for your schedule and that a second adult will be in the house listening.
