Lincoln Athletics Removes Participation Fees for the 2026โ27 School Year
Lincoln Athletics is proud to announce the elimination of participation fees for all Lincoln High School and Lincoln Middle School athletic programs beginning with the 2026โ27 school year. This exciting step reflects our continued commitment to providing opportunities for every student to participate, compete, and grow through athletics. We believe that no student should miss the opportunity to represent the Splitters because of financial barriers, and we are thrilled to make participation more accessible than ever before.
Participation fees have been a part of Lincoln Athletics since 2004, helping support athletic programs during a time when school funding continued to face increasing challenges. While those fees helped sustain opportunities for student-athletes over the past two decades, we are excited to remove one more barrier that can prevent students from getting involved. Across Michigan, many MHSAA member schools have relied on participation fees to offset the rising costs of athletics as budgets have become increasingly constrained, making these fees a common reality for families throughout the state. Today, Lincoln is proud to move in a different direction by reducing costs for families and investing in greater access to educational athletics.
As participation fees are removed, Lincoln Athletics has offset this loss of revenue by increasing ticket prices โ beginning last fall. Modest adjustments to ticket pricing have helped support our athletic programs while ensuring they remain sustainable for years to come. At the same time, we remain committed to protecting Lincoln families from these changes by offering affordable individual and family athletic passes, allowing our community to enjoy Splitter athletics while minimizing the impact of increased admission costs.

This pass admits entry to ALL Lincoln athletic events at the Middle School & High School level. And remember, Lincoln staff & students can come to any athletic event for free โ using your Lincoln Consolidated School badge!
We hope this investment in our students will lead to greater participation across all sports, giving more young people the opportunity to experience the lifelong benefits of educational athletics. From building friendships and leadership skills to improving physical and mental well-being, athletics play a vital role in the student experience. By removing participation fees, we are reducing the financial burden on Lincoln families while creating more opportunities for every student to wear the blue and gray with pride.
