There are a few things people swear are true about cosmetology school… and almost all of them are wrong.
1️⃣ “You have to already be good at the skill.”
Some students come in with experience. Others are just getting started. Everyone is here to learn.
2️⃣ “Cosmetology school is just about learning hair.”
Hair is a big part of the journey, but it’s far from the whole story. Students are exposed to services, techniques, and experiences that prepare them for more than one path in the beauty industry.
3️⃣ “You only leave with technical skills.”
The skills matter. The people you meet matter too. We’ve watched relationships built in school lead to opportunities far beyond the classroom.
4️⃣ “It’s all textbooks until you graduate.”
There’s book work, but the real learning happens when you put your hands to work.
5️⃣ “There’s a perfect time to start.”
Whether you’re getting an early start through a CTE program or choosing a new path later in life, your timeline doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
Truth is, cosmetology school isn’t about having everything figured out before you begin.
It’s about finding a place that’s willing to teach you before the world expects you to already know.
Everyone starts somewhere. The only question is, where will you begin?
