Week 31: Bunnies!

We are hopping into Easter Break with an Easter bunny theme! We enjoyed stories and songs about bunnies, which helped build language skills and spark imagination.

We created these adorable Easter bunnies using pastel paper and fluffy cotton tails (see below). This hands-on activity encouraged fine motor skills as the kids cut, glued, and assembled their bunnies.

This weeks Songs' included: Hop Little Bunnies, Sleeping Bunnies &
Little Bunny Foo Foo.

We also watched Hop and had our annual Spring Party. This year we sent home easter baskets with each of the kids and some Easter Bunny Bait for them to try to catch the Easter Bunny!

Week 30: Easter Chicks!
We learned all about chicks as a symbol of spring and Easter, talked about eggs, and enjoyed stories and songs about our fluffy, yellow friends.

One of our favorite activities was making these adorable “chick in an egg” art projects (see below)! The children used colorful doilies and paper shapes to make their own hatching Easter chicks, practicing cutting, gluing, and arranging their pieces.

Week 28 - We’re Learning About Kites!

Hands-On Learning: Making and decorating kites helps children build important fine motor skills.

Exploring Science: We talked about wind, weather, and how things fly, sparking curiosity and early science skills.

Math Moments: Counting shapes, measuring string, and noticing patterns introduce basic math concepts.

Week 29 - Welcome Spring!
The snow has melted (mostly) and the sun is shining! We had some beautiful sunny & warm days that let us get outside on the playground! We couldnt have asked for a more perfect forecast to celebrate the arrival of Spring!
This week was all about:
✅Encouraging gross motor skills through activities like running, jumping, and hopping.
✅Identifying and naming common spring colors (e.g., yellow, green, pink)
✅Identifying signs of spring (Brd singing, snow melting, warmer weather, grass growing, rain, etc. )
✅Encouraging language development through singing, reading, and talking about spring
This week we read All About Spring, Spring Stinks, and Spring Is Here. We are still singing our ABC's and Counting, identifying shapes and colors and learning everything we can.

Week 27 - St. Patricks Day AKA Leprechaun Day
We read How to Catch a Leprechaun and The Littlest Leprechaun this week.
The kids also made a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. They came out really cute!
Have you ever caught a leprechaun? We sure do try every year!
We set up a trap but we didnt catch one! 😆
Instead the kids came in to a big mess!!
There were pieces of shattered rainbow and green grass all over our floor! He also left behind a string of clovers hanging from the ceiling! The leprechaun turned the milk green too! It wasnt all a disaster though, we found some gold coins hidden all around and he left us some goodie bags with magical shamrock glasses and other treats!
Everyone was very helpful about cleaning up the mess the leprechaun left and they were really excited about the cold coins and goodie bags they found! We celebrated St. Patricks Day with Pizza and some special treats sent in by some of our families.

Week 26 - Dr Seuss - Read Across America Week
Dr. Seuss Day, celebrated annually on March 2nd, marks the birthday of beloved children's author Theodor Seuss Geisel, and serves as a celebration of the joy of reading and the legacy of his iconic children's books.
Read Across America Week, celebrated annually in March, is a year-round program by the National Education Association (NEA) that motivates children and teens to read, promoting reading joy and fostering a love for literacy through diverse reading materials, events, and community partnerships.
This week we read:
The Cat in The Hat, Green Eggs & Ham, One Fish Two Fish, Fox in Sox, Are you My Mother?
We also read some of our other favorites:
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, and the Grouchy Ladybug, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books, Where the Wild things Are, and Rainbow Fish.
We watched The Cat in The Hat Movie on Monday, we colored every day and we made a The Cat in The Hat Craft. (My 2's & 3's LOVE to paint!)

Week 25 - Fairy Tales
This week we are reading, watching short videos and engaging in dramatic and imaginative play as we act out our favorite stories!
We are discovering and recognizing characters and settings from their favorite stories! They're exploring simple plot points, such as "good vs. evil", facing hardships, overcoming obstacles, and learning to express their own emotions in relation to the tales.
Through engaging in dramatic and imaginative play inspired by these stories, they’re bringing characters to life, recognizing important themes such as kindness, bravery, and perseverance, and developing language skills, enhancing listening comprehension, and enjoying meaningful social interactions.

We are Learning: The kids are developing their fine motor skills and learning essential concepts such as size comparison and sequencing through a variety of hands-on activities. Engaging in tasks like cutting, gluing, and coloring not only enhances their dexterity but also sparks their creativity. They are participating in interactive dialogue that enriches their understanding of the weather and temperature changes as well as cause and effect.
