The Inklings Fellowship is reading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, by C.S. Lewis for the month of August. They are also meditating on and memorizing 1 Timothy 4:7-8:

"Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come."

Heavenly Father, lift my eyes to Thee, to Thy Son, Jesus Christ the Lord, who is above angels. Thou sittest at the right hand, and I pray, give to me a spiritual urgency, a longing that is more than human. Give to me the desire that is like a fire burning in my bones. O God, may I not be content with where I am and in what I am. But I pray that Thou wouldst stir up my heart with the longing and desire for Thee that can only be experienced in Thy presence. Lift up my heart unto Thee I ask, O Father, in Jesus’ name, amen.

On Saturday, June 11 we commissioned our 8th Fellows Class in Northeast Ohio! We also said farewell to City Director, Dr. Bryan Hollon, who accepted a new position at Trinity School of Ministry in Ambridge, PA as Dean President. Although we are sorry to see him go, the Board, Staff and Fellows are overjoyed to see how God has prepared Bryan for this new endeavor. Please join us in praying for Bryan and the 2022 commissioned Fellows.

We also welcomed a new group of Inklings and Year Two Fellows with Orientation on Saturday. There will be over 20 so far in those groups, and we are still taking applications for the Inklings Fellowship until August 1.

Daniel Semelsberger, our resident scholar, will be facilitating the upcoming lectures, as well as bringing in other lecturers for the coming year.

All of our Year One Fellows have completed their Discipleship plans! The Class of 2022 will be commissioned this Saturday!

Their plans to carry out Matthew 28 are diverse and well-suited to their gifts and calling, and we are thankful for each one of them!

Please keep them in your prayers as they are added to the number of CSLI Commissioned Fellows this weekend!

We are also thankful for the 15 mentors that have walked with this group! What a committed group of men and women!

"And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'”

Inklings June quote:

“All Joy reminds. It is never a possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or still 'about to be'.”

"What I like about experience is that it is such an honest thing. You can take any number of wrong turnings; but keep your eyes open and you will not be allowed to go very far before the warning signs appear. You may have deceived yourself, but experience is not trying to deceive you. The universe rings true whenever you fairly test it."
⏤ C.S. Lewis, Surprised by Joy

“I thought I saw how stories of this kind could steal past a certain inhibition which had paralysed much of my own religion in childhood. Why did one find it so hard to feel as one was told one ought to feel about God or the sufferings of Christ? I thought the chief reason was that one was told one ought to. An obligation to feel can freeze feelings. And reverence itself did harm. The whole subject was associated with lowered voices; almost as if it were something medical. But supposing that by casting all these things into an imaginary world, stripping them of their stained-glass and Sunday School associations, one could make them for the first time appear in their real potency? Could one not thus steal past those watchful dragons? I thought one could.”
― C.S. Lewis

"Nothing that you have not given away will ever be really yours. Nothing in you that has not died will ever be raised from the dead. Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in.” C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
